be careful about your cleaning products and dont get yourself injured or potentially killed ok
why it so dangerous to be clean
As someone who’s job is to handle chemicals like this, I need to state that this information is IMPORTANT. Plenty of people have accidentally injured or killed themselves at home because they didn’t know what kind of reaction certain substances have with one another. Play it safe and don’t mix chemicals.
Also don’t use bleach to clean up urine it’ll create chloramine bc of the ammonia in it and you can give yourself chemical pnemonia that way
Every time I see “helpful” posts telling people to mix these things while cleaning I cringe with my entire body.
I appreciate this post cuz honestly its important to know to stay safe
But not gonna lie, my brain was just like “scary murderers on this site are gonna be getting ideas…”
Ive done the first three things on this list. Don’t be stupid like me.
Every year, multiple times a year, they convince ppl to fork out thousands of dollars and….literally nothing changes. There’s no doubt in my mind they’re pocketing most of this money lol
Yep
They just emailed me about this today and I’m ???? Where is the 100k+ going every time they do this? There’s been one major update that fanfiction has had for at least five years and they don’t demand money like that
You people realize that, like, server space and shit costs money, right? You realize that they need money to pay graphic designers and coders and such BEFORE you get to see those updates on the website, right? You realize that ffnet runs ads on their site and that’s how they’re earning revenue while AO3 is completely ad-free, right? Lord help me I know very little about finances or how to run a website but Wikipedia does the exact same thing but they have a far more massive user base to pull from. Do you like AO3? Would you rather go back to only having ffnet? No? Then maybe don’t baselessly accuse them of scamming people. You don’t have to donate to them if you don’t want to, they’re not holding your account hostage if you don’t.
They also post a very handy breakdown of where that money is going.
IT’S NOT A SCAM. If you love ao3 and want it to exist, DONATE.
Also, fuck yeah nothing changes after people give them money. (Apart from, you know, stuff like them overhauling the entire filtering system, but go off I guess.)
The servers don’t die under the ever-increasing load, not even on Sundays. Wide-spread deletions don’t happen because a potential advertising partner frowns on teh pr0n. No one fucks with the formatting for shits and giggles. The legal efforts don’t stop. The academic side continues to spread the idea that fanfic is a serious subject worth studying. Fanlore stays around as a fannish resource. So does the Open Doors project. No one gets to grab the fucking domain and exploit fandom for profit.
The OTW is a lot more than just the AO3, but even if you reduce everything to the Archive, think about how many hours you spend on there. Do you seriously mean to tell me that’s not worth like ten dollars every six months? Are you for real?
Yes, we’ve gotten used to fandom being free entertainment, to the point where the usual entitlement has settled in. But spend a moment to think about the back-end of things and maybe you’ll realize that shouting your baseless accusations into the void is immature at best.

That last tag needs to be updated to “erika talks out her ass”.
What have they done with the money? Go read their financial statements, which are audited annually due to their non-profit status.
Pass that money out to the rest of us? Are you high? They are, in the form of a free service that you’re not required to pay for but still benefit from even if you don’t.
Honestly, their budget is incredibly small for what they’re doing with it. They are an excellent deal and providing a very valuable service.
And for fuck’s sake, they post their financials. “What have they done with that money” is a question which absolutely tells us that the person asking did not put in the full second it would have taken to click on the provided link to read them.
Bro if you want things to continue existing you gotta pay basic minimal upkeep for their use.
if you get an advert with a little boy saying to his mum ‘can you close my closet?’ or something like that SKIP IT.
its an advert for the halloween reboot and it has a jumpscare at the end
Signal boost!
If you’re easily scared I’d recommend muting the ad or skipping it as soon as you can regardless of the jump scare because it is a horror movie which in and of itself could scare some people (me included)
If you work in any type of food service, DO NOT intentionally mess up people’s orders. If they ask for diet, soy, skinny, gluten-free or anything else, DO NOT give them the wrong order just because you think they “look too healthy”, are being trendy or anything else. You are not them, you do not know their reasons, and if you do this you are literal scum. You could kill someone by doing this, or at the very least make them miserably sick.
– Praise the living daylights out of a show and shove its greatness in everyone’s face
– 2 years later, pick it apart violently and insult everyone who still enjoys it in as edgy a way as possible because negativity is cool
!!!
uhh maybe marginalized ppl were excited at the possibility of a show (such as su) representing them, only to be rightfully angry when the show ends up racist, homophobic etc. anyway, super bad post all around
I feel like a lot of hardcore accusations of problematic and offensive content that get thrown at media that was previously lauded as progressive come from a few sources; first, the creators are often a lot more accessible than the creators of mainstream media. you can message rebecca sugar on twitter personally to call her a racist bitch, but you can’t do the same to, say, jj abrhams or another large-scale creator. likewise, you can’t stand on a streetcorner and scream at people until they agree to stop watching law and order, but you can certainly bully large groups of people online until they stop supporting an independent creator.
second, the fandoms that tend to form around progressive media tend to be younger, more volatile, looking to media and fandom as forms of activism. mainstream media they can write off as garbage, but progressive niche media that makes a sincere attempt to represent marginalized folks must be Absolutely Perfect. the idea that a piece of media can have good parts and bad parts, that it can try and only partially succeed, but that that partial success is still worth something, is completely lost on many young fans. either its irredeemable garbage or its the literal messiah, there’s no in-between. so if a show falls short of perfect, as is inevitable, then it goes straight into the “total garbage” pile and must be condemned by the masses.
genuinely trying to represent certain groups and making a few missteps is not the same thing as being ignorant or malicious. making a sincere effort to mean something to folks who don’t get a lot of things made for them is something to be proud of. would you rather go back to the times when fucking nothing got made for us? when the only characters we saw that we could relate to were only there to be made fun of? you’re spoiled by a rush of new creators who took “go make your own thing then” to heart and set out to make content for people like them, you have the gall to look at what they’re trying to do and spit on it for not being better. no creator owes you shit, no creator has to bow to a bunch of teenage bullies who do nothing but demand and harass, that’s all there is to it.
Dear lord can everyone please read this post because it’s so relevant
if you see someone being interrupted in a conversation, acknowledge them, don’t let them be pushed to the side. if you see someone lagging behind, walk beside them. if someone is being ignored, take the step to include them. always remind people of their worth. it hurts when it feels like you’re being forgotten. that small gesture can mean a lot.
I always hate it when people are all “so do you go to school, or are
you working, or” and I either have to
make up some lie, or
eventually get
around to “I am not working because of depression/anxiety,” and
subsequently have to deal with whatever bullshit-riddled and completely
unsolicited opinions on mental illness this stranger feels obligated to
share with me.
So my therapist was like, “You don’t have to do either.
You can just say you haven’t worked in a while because you’re recovering
from an illness.”
I tried it when the home inspector was here today, and it fucking worked.
He was like, “oh, I’m sorry, are you doing better now,” and I’m like
yeah, and don’t worry, it’s not contagious, awkward laugh, and we moved
on.
MY THERAPIST. IS A GENIUS. Because it is an
illness, so it’s not a lie to say that, and it’s also none of his
business to know specifically what it is, and I clearly don’t want to
give more details, so we should move on from this topic. MYTHERAPIST IS A GODDAMN GENIUS.
Dude I needed this. I never know what to say when people ask if I work because I’m severely disabled and don’t work.
REBLOG TO SAVE A LIFE HOLY SHIT
To add, this works on job interviews too. I once had to answer the ‘so whats up with this gap of 8 months in your resume where you were unemployed?” and I just said I had suffered an illness and I needed time to recover.
It’s easy enough, not a lie, and puts them on edge enough that they usually don’t go digging.
WHAT YES IM USING THIS
I neeed this. Thanks so much
Because a mental illness still counts as an illness
Adult things arent NEARLY as complex as I thought they were growing up I just walked into bank of america and said im here to open a checking account and they said ok and opened me a checking account
If you have anxiety about being an adult, it may help to think of adult things as basically just doing a lot of quests.
Me: [googles “where do i get a passport”] Me: [goes to that building] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: Third floor, room twelve. Me: [goes to that room] Me: [asks first person I encounter] Where do I get a passport? Them: That desk over there. Me: [goes to that desk] Me: Where do I get a passport? Them: Fill out this form. Me: [thinking] Silver key opens the garden gate, in the garden is the red key, which opens the red door, there’s a boy in the red house who tells you his dog is trapped in the old abandoned barn and can I please rescue him…
being an adult is a serious of fetch quests and waiting in lines
Don’t expect society to put up with your little brats
seems reasonable though ?
“Horrified”
??? That’s a perfectly reasonable request tho???
HOW DARE YOU ASK US TO ACTUALLY PARENT!?
Okay but…story time because I work at a fucking restaurant. Specifically one that has every single main dish on those hotplates. A kid ran into me one time as I was carrying two empty trays back to the kitchen and sent me into the edge of a brick wall right next to me. Like my side collided into the outwards edge and holy fuck y’all know that hurts. AND I almost dropped the trays on the stupid kid. I had to sit out of work for like half an hour cuz it hurt that much, and bruised badly for a few days mind you, while my manager yelled at the customer family for letting the child run around like that. Luckily the family had shame and apologised and left, but godammit if I had been carrying a tray of hot food fresh from the kitchen I wouldn’t have been the only one hurt for sure and injuries would’ve been much worse.
TL;DR DON’T LET YOUR TINY CHILDREN RUN AROUND IN A RESTAURANT. IT’S NOT A PLAYGROUND. IT’S DANGEROUS FOR BOTH THE STAFF, THE OTHER CUSTOMERS, AND THE ACTUAL CHILDREN.
