Actually, on the subject of age, let me throw a quick little PSA your way. Kids don’t lie to adults about your age on the internet. Please. Let adults live in their comfort zones. I know we often hear it the other way around, which is also not okay, but last night I found out a girl I’d been speaking to who said she was mid twenties was actually sixteen. It just… it makes me feel uncomfortable. Please respect adults and what they want. Please don’t lie so that you can engage with them. It’s not cool. That’s all. Thanks.

#also it makes it difficult for adults to be responsible #an adult is going to talk differently to another adult than they are to a kid or teenager #just don’t lie to people????

anyway, my older sister was adopted when she was almost 16 (kinda on accident too), and because of that she got away from an abusive household, went from barely passing classes to being an honour student, and launching into a career where she’s happy and healthy and paying her own way. just two years of parenting where she had 3 meals a day, a bedtime, and parents to help and protect her changed her life radically. Plus, i got an older sister

adopt teenagers.

sorta related but i dont like that tumblr has made “unhealthy relationship” mean “one person is an abuser and the other is a victim”

unhealthy relationship means just that. a relationship that is unhealthy. whether because a party is uninterested, both parties bring out the worst in eachother, theres just no more spark, etc

just stop using “unhealthy relationship” as if its perfectly synonymous with “abusive relationship”

abusive relationships are DEFINITELY unhealthy relationships but not all unhealthy relationships are abusive, ya dig?

Important post.

Not everyone you don’t get along with is an abuser.

Rule one of fandom: there are some things that only exist for us.

Don’t send actors fics

Don’t give them explicit art ever

Don’t tag them in rpf questions or theories

Don’t try to bring them into fandom drama of any kind

Don’t hold them responsible for what the producers and writers decide

They’re still people.  They have private lives, which do not include fandom.

Esp when you don’t even OWN the fics or arts you sent them

There are exceptions – there are actors who have embraced fandom and love to see fannish depictions of themselves. There are celebrities who love to see new twists on their work.

…but nobody needs their introduction to fandom to be “here’s a 25,000 word fic showing you in an ABO sex pollen orgy.” And they really, really don’t need to see the accompanying artwork.

Between the various ComicCons and talk shows, if they’re potentially interested in fandom, they’ll discover it – someone who knows them personally will mention, oh hey, did you know this exists? And if their response is “yeah, I know that stuff exists; I don’t care for it,” don’t pester them about it. Those who think it’s great, will say so.  Let THEM come to US, not the other way around.

I feel like this used just be a known unknown rule in Fandom but in recent years people have lost all sense of fucking boundaries. It’s very weird and unsettling

a couple months ago i re-opened my etsy shop because we’re having money troubles. about 2 weeks ago i sold a $65 item, but today when i went to look at my balance i had negative money. why? because etsy had automatically opted me into their “boosted posts” marketing feature, which costs $1 per day. i had to go find the option and turn it off manually.

etsy is opting people into paid marketing without their permission. if you use the site, make sure you aren’t getting charged.

O___O

I gotta check this! Thank you!

check your settings often!

etsy wtf.
