Just saw some real dystopian shit on the news. A fedex driver in
Wisconsin came to pick up a return package for a damaged piece of
furniture that was 144 lbs, and while having to carry it back to the
truck by himself in the snow he, pretty understandably, complained to
the person he was talking to on the phone about it and cursed about it.
However, the homeowner had a ring camera recording the whole thing, and
she sent the footage to fedex to complain AND somehow it got on the
news. Can you fucking imagine if like, every time you ever complained
about something you have to do at work somebody secretly recorded it,
sent it to your boss, and THEN got it on the fucking news, even across
the country. Can you imagine being angry because a fedex driver, during
the busiest time of the year who’s probably severely overworked,
complained about having to carry a very heavy package by himself (in the
video you can literally hear him complain that somebody else who was
supposed to be with him wasn’t there and he had to do it by himself).
Goddamn hell world

customers really expect you to eat their shit and tell them it tastes delicious. the sort of mindset consumerism and service culture has encouraged in our society is just. disgostin

I saw that story, and if I’m not mistaken, the customer said something along the lines of, “he should be happy he has a job.”

TIL That it is a common misconception that documentaries have to tell the truth

via reddit.com

REBLOGGING THIS BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS! DOCUMENTARIES LIE ALL THE FUCKING TIME, AND YOU SHOULD ALWAYS FACT CHECK EVERYTHING A DOCUMENTARY SAYS! Most documentaries have some sort of agenda they’re trying to push, and will twist the truth or outright LIE to push that agenda.

Supersize Me was disproven by several nutritionists yet still shown in school classrooms, Black Fish made all sorts of false claims about the trainers of Seaworld and Orcas in general and was so bad even animal rights activists were calling them out on their false info, there was this shitty documentary claiming Christianity stole all their mythos from Ancient Egypt only to be disproven by ACTUAL EGYPTOLOGISTS, WHO REVEALED HALF THE “EGYPTIAN MYTHS” MENTIONED IN THE FILM WERE FAKE, and so much more!

The number of people who automatically believe everything they saw in a documentary just because it was a documentary is ridiculous and DANGEROUS.

self reflection is a good thing but too much self analysis is so exhausting. constantly questioning your own motives and how you’re being perceived and whether or not you’re being real and what’s authentic leads to such a convoluted mentality like. u don’t even know who you are cause you just end up being a case study and not a person. i just want to let myself move through the world for a moment

Let’s talk about sexual consent.

You’re allowed to just… not want to have sex with somebody. For any reason you want. You might not like their haircut, their opinions, their laugh, their facial hair, their past history, their genitals, anything.

You don’t actually need to prove that the thing you object to is BAD WRONG AWFUL, or that you would NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS want to have sex with that person or anyone like them.

You can go on a date and decide not to sleep with them. You can go on a million dates and decide that. You can have sex with them and then decide, 20 minutes later, that you don’t want to have it again. You can decide that there’s a certain kind of sex you don’t want to have.

Sure, people’s feelings may get hurt when they get sexually rejected. Sure, we can talk about broader ethical issues, like “Hey maybe the pleasure of both partners should matter so maybe cis dudes who want to please their partners should have more sex that gets cis women off even if eating out doesn’t give them personally an orgasm”, or people can discuss experiences like “I’m a lesbian and normally 100% into vagina business, but I had sex with a trans woman and had enjoyable contact with her penis and don’t think that makes me less lesbian” BUT

NONE of that means you need to do ANYTHING, sexually, that you do not goddamn want to. Your body, your sexual consent, should be inviolate to any person of good conscience. Your feelings and choices may make someone else decide they don’t want to have sex with you, but that’s their right likewise.

It feels like people forget that, and feel like they need a lot of backup reasons why they don’t want to have sex with someone. But in my experience, the reality is: People who believe consent is important will respect your consent or lack thereof no matter how whimsical your reasons are. People who don’t won’t care, and it won’t matter whether or not you have a 40-page thesis on Why You Don’t Want to Fuck, complete with bibliography.
