I remember hearing about something called “The 40-year Rule” in terms of media; in which the ‘present-day culture’ will eventually try to imitate the culture from 40 years prior. This has to do with the fact that recent generations are either too young to properly remember this time and so they find it interesting. Or they’re old enough to have a sense of nostalgia when they think about it and want to bring it back.
By this logic, that means all those ridiculous memes we don’t think about any more will become popular again and approximately 40 years…
