Man though you know what makes me sorta sad is when nerdy, “quiet” kids latch on to me during camp and they just talk and talk and talk about a thing they’re into (Skyrim, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, dinosaurs, whatever). And I see the kids just light up when they say something and I can chime in with an ‘oh hey, are you talking about [x]? I love that thing! Tell me more about it.’

Like, their parents will warn me ‘so-and-so is pretty quiet and hard to engage’ but no, man, just listen, your kid is so smart and so into This Thing, they’ll engage like fuck and talk your damn ear off it you let them. Frame it in their damn terms. Or! Just! Listen to them about their Thing! And they will engage with the rest of the material! Because they know you care about them! Amazing!!!

Quiet kids are usually that way because either no one listens, or there is always someone more dominant speaking wise in their group that always talks over them and then they give up. Some quiet kids are starved for attention and really really want to talk, but don’t always get the chance to

Everyone who reblogged this are good people. Bless you, this made me happy to read

oKAY my 2 cents on the Cars fandom Age Debate going on-

We’re going to assume that Lightning and Sally are roughly around the same age.

Assuming Sally went to college straight out of high school at age 18, that means she’d graduate with an undergraduate at 22 and get her graduate at age 25. (and that’s if she didn’t take any time off)

Then she obviously spent enough time in LA as a lawyer (which takes some time to become after you’ve graduated) so we can assume that was a year or so, putting her at ~26/27

Then she came to Radiator Springs, and was there long enough before McQueen’s arrival to get settled in/fixed up, renovate the Cozy Cone and open up for business. Add on at least another year.

Honestly, I’d put them both at closer to 30 at the beginning of Cars 1, then add 5 years for Cars 2, and AT LEAST 5 for Cars 3.

side effects of being numb due to mental illness:

  1. not crying for weeks and weeks on end til one day breaking down over something not actually worth getting upset for
  2. not being able to tell if your feelings for people are platonic or romantic or if you’re just lonely
  3. instead of caring too much not caring at all about anything
  4. not being able to process anything going on in your life and when you try your brain stalling out
  5. losing your train of thought every five seconds so when you try to have a conversation having to pause and remember what you were trying to say
  6. word vomiting
