Specifically, you’re mistaking systematic racism with individual racism. Individuals can be racist without the society necessarily being systematically racist against the person the individual is being racist against.
For example, let’s say a black person really hates all white people, in America. When they see white people, they treat them as less than themselves or other black people. They’re being racist- they consider their race superior to other races. It’s individually racist, though- not systematically racist. The individual probably experiences racism in both micro- and macro- aggressions.

Now, let’s say we’re of the school of thought that black people have the right to hate white people because whites oppress and dehumanize them. Being the bigger man doesn’t do anything. Well, okay, but hating someone to the extent that you dehumanize them is not okay. They’re just as human as you, and you aren’t in the right just because they’re doing the same thing to you. If a preschooler punches another preschooler, the second preschooler doesn’t have the right to punch back, regardless of whether or not politely telling them to not punch you has done anything.

I would just like to add, that people of color have enslaved white people plenty of times too! But I’m sure no one in school told you that the same people that enslaved and sold Africans to white people, actually enslaved and sold white people!

Or, ya’ know, the definition of racism which has literally nothing to do with institutionalized oppression. It’s just RACISM.
