The fae smiled, sharply: “Give me your name, child.”
“Uhhhhh. Stick.”
“What.”
“Does Leaf work better? I’m just kinda looking around this clearing. Look, I’m trans, I haven’t decided on one yet, I’m throwing some spaghetti at the wall, you know how it is.”
Fae are born with features sharp and narrow, yet this one seems to soften as Moss looks at it. Its grin— sharp, teeth gleaming, its eyes— cutting, searching, the jut and pull of its jaw enough to scratch glass. It does not blink. Branch does not blink. It softens.
“I said, give me your name, child.”
“I still haven’t picked one,” Grass defends, even now still hoping for a way out of a faeries deal.
“No. But your parents did. Give me your name, child, and it shall no longer be yours. The entity of your name shall no longer exist, and you will be free for whichever name you choose— Leaf, or Stick, or Lichen.”
“…oh.” says Petal, and in the next moment a name falls from their lips. It is not their name. It never has been. The fae is sharp and cutting and witty, that moment of softness an imagined slight.
“Very well, child. Be warned of mushroom circles, should you lose your name again.”
“Okay,” Mushroom smiles, and the Fae pulls itself away from their reality in a swirl of feathers and silk.
When they go home for the first time in two months, their mother frets over them in a way she had not since they were a child, and she calls them by no name at all.
Goddamn. This is my favorite version of ‘faeries take your name’, that’s it, we can all go home now.
daniel radcliffe calling out j.k. rowling on her bullshit is big dick energy
One thing I have not seen mentioned in light of this statement, perhaps because it’s just well known or perhaps because it’s been forgotten, is that Radcliffe has dealt with this before. About 10 years ago his friendship with a trans musician named Our Lady J became known to the tabloids. They immediately published sensational articles calling her a transvestite and a drag queen (she was not), and speculating about the nature of their relationship. He responded to insinuating questions by simply being aggressively positive about what a great musician and good friend she was. They did at least one interview together for a queer magazine. This at a time when trans people were even more marginalized than now, and when he as an actor was finishing Harry Potter and under a lot of pressure to ~manage his image~ as he transitioned to an adult career.
TL;DR – Radcliffe has a record of not just saying nice things, but supporting trans people in his life.
Hello! This is your reminder to NEVER bind with ace bandages or duct tape!! These products are Not made to move with your body, and are NOT safe to bind with. Duct tape is not stretchy whatsoever, and is hot and sticky and very painful. Very hard to breath with. An ace bandage is made to compress tightly and not to move with your breathing. You could easily restrict your breathing or even crack a rib wearing it. Even after 20 minutes, your back will hurt like hell! Take it from a dumbass who did this yesterday and is still in pain and probably needs to see a doctor!! Please dont bind with anything other than something specifically made for it!!! Thanks, and be kind to yourself!!
nonbinary doesn’t equal flat chested!! if you’re nonbinary and have breasts and feel good about them, that’s great!! if you want to show them off, that’s awesome!! going braless? so comfy and sexy!!
this also goes for nonbinary people (especially transfem nonbinaries) who actively want bigger breasts!! hell yeah!! if you’re on HRT or aiming to get surgery to get bigger breasts, that’s cool as shit!!
the way you guys baby transmisogynists is so fucking sickening
it’s all “fuck terfs” until your fav gets called out for being, get this, transmisogynistic, then you all jump to their defense with “it wasn’t transmisogyny!” and “it wasn’t that bad!” and in some cases “they can’t be transphobic, they’re trans!” yes they can. yes they absolutely can, and they are. none of y’all can ever make the effort to disengage with the person’s content and make transfem people feel just a little bit safer, but for some reason have tons of energy to say well, they didn’t mean it like that!they’re still learning! over and over til your fingers fall off. tme people have no right to say something isn’t transmisogyny when transfem people have repeatedly stated that it is. it’s our responsibility to stop normalizing this shit and start listening when transfem people speak up.
men and nonbinary people who have breasts are totally normal and cool actually
also this is true regardless of whether they bind or plan to have top surgery
I know you’re aiming for trans and nb people rn, but this would also probably help cis men with gynecomastia too 😀
This is one of the rare occasions when “cis men too!” is a good addition, and you’re so right! That did occur to me when I made this post and I’m glad you pointed it out
