if you’re currently questioning your gender, please know that it’s okay to try out gender labels to see if they fit you. it’s not “offensive” to “real” trans/nonbinary people to do so. that’s a common fear gender questioning people have, but it’s bs. you’re good.

YES!! PLEASE EXPLORE YOUR GENDER!! IF YOU’RE TRANS OR NONBINARY YOU HAVE TO TRY ON LABELS TO FIGURE THAT OUT!! AND IF YOU’RE CIS YOU’LL HAVE A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF BOTH YOURSELF & YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP TO GENDER, AND THE EXPERIENCES OF TRANS PEOPLE AND OUR STRUGGLES, AT THE END OF ALL THIS GENDER EXPLORATION!! IT’S A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR EVERYBODY!! THANKS. – a ‘real’ trans person

it IS cringe to still give jkr your money and i’m tired of acting like it’s fine as long as you’re aware she sucks. yes even if you’re lgbt+ it is still cringe and terrible stop doing it

it’s not cringe it’s hateful. by giving JKR your money you are actively fueling transmisogyny. That’s not cringey, that’s bigotry.

Hey Neil, due to a certain British author saying some stupid things again… Could you please quickly say something supportive for trans people? Would be really comforting right now

I’ve missed this (I’ve been taking a Twitter holiday for the last month, for my own mental health), but I can imagine. I’m sorry.

Trans women are women. Trans men are men.  Trans rights are human rights. I’m sorry that some people have such a hard time getting their heads around that. But the world is changing, and history is with you.

This, from 13 months ago, has just been noticed by transphobes, who have been screenshotting it, announcing that I’m jumping onto a bandwagon and they won’t read my books any more. So I thought I’d reblog it, because there may be some trans men or trans women out there who need reassurance, and this might help. (Thank you to all the people who turned up on my Twitter feed hoping for a fight for reminding me to reblog it, even if that wasn’t what you thought you were doing.)

“it’s not grammatically correct” is such a stupid argument about they/them pronouns like. Okay? That’s a whole human person and language rules are fake and can change when we say they do

This is revolutionary y’all. I remember being 13 and refused to go do any ceremony because my parents tried to force me to go through a bar mitzvah. By virtue of the masculine name alone I just couldn’t do it. After that, I felt very alienated from the Jewish community. Having this option is so important for us to repair these binary aspects of our culture (link)

one of our rabbis actually gave a message earlier this month about bnei mitzvah and how judaism encourages us to reject all sorts of false binaries that might be imposed on people, including gender ones if that’s your situation.

like i was so afraid she was gonna just use some nonbinary kid as a metaphor but she DIDN’T.

like… ok yes she got a metaphor out of a kid asking if there was a ???? mitzvah that fit them… but also she came back around to the real life situation at the end and said that yes you could have a bnei mitzvah or some other phrase that fits your identity… so she got the metaphor and the situation that gave her the sermon idea both right.

you’ve heard the jewish proverb about this, right?

when presented with 2 options, choose the 3rd.
