The moment 22 got her spark wasn’t when she was trying to, it was when she started asking the question of what that spark COULD be. It was about her wondering WHAT she could experience, not being forced into finding something to want.
Loved how Soul showed us how important teachers are and how they impact our lives with Joe’s ex-student who told him he was the only reason he went to school, to the girl who played trombone, to 22 finally getting her earth pass.
As someone who constantly struggles with her life purpose, her passion and her “spark”, this movie hit too close to home and it made me cry.
Soul really said that you are not born to do just onething and that you can be happy with the life you make and that you should stop waiting for The Big Event™ to start living your life, because life is everywhere.
Joe continues to be a teacher and inspire kids and he plays with the jazz band every weekend and he’s happy, but he can’t help but occasionally wonder how 22 is doing and where she ended up.
And then one day, a few years later, there’s a new kid in his class. She’s snarky and sarcastic but is so full of life and she comes to class finishing a slice of pizza and when she takes things out of her backpack a bunch of helicopter leaves fall out, and Joe just lights up because he knows.
