Social justice warriors aren’t real. No one identifies as a social justice warrior. I’m sure there are people who have rightfully been called that, but for the most part, it’s a term used to silence and derail. I started getting called a SJW the minute I started talking about being black, and that’s how I knew it was bullshit.
Here’s the thing. It’s easier to call someone sensitive then it is to admit you might have opinions that disrespect their humanity. It’s easier to call someone dramatic instead of trying to empathize with a group you aren’t a part of. That’s why tumblr and social media have such a bad rep. People want to say the world’s gotten “too PC”, but really everyone just has a platform to voice their opinions. That wasn’t the case in the 80s, 90s, or early 2000s.
Every anti SJW I’ve encountered has been racist, pompous, and ridiculously angry. They’d rather twist your words and fight for their right to say nigga then have a meaningful conversation. They’re also mostly white, male, straight, and cis. Does that make them automatically wrong? No. There’s hardly any right and wrong when it comes to social justice. But it speaks volumes that the most privileged people have such a problem with marginalized groups speaking up. It also speaks volumes that the most privileged get so upset and violent when dealing with people they don’t agree with. IE: Anitia Sarkeesian
So yeah. Hope all this answers your question 🙂
Okay… well.
See, I’m anti-SJW, and I’m willing to have a conversation. My opinions change.
I’m white. I don’t have an issue with people speaking up, but sometimes they make no sense. And some aren’t willing to explain themselves. Which makes it hard to get “less bigoted” (I hate the word bigot but anyway) opinions.
The other thing is that there are people in those groups who dislike SJWs. Plus, SJW DOES have a definition, contrary to popular belief.
