Despite their docile nature, nurse sharks are ranked fourth in documented shark bites to humans- most likely because of a lack of caution in light of their slow, sedentary behavior.
Lemon sharks hunt by harassing their prey: they approach quickly and stop abruptly before making contact, then hit the victim, hold it tightly around the head, and shake it repeatedly to tear off pieces of flesh.
Port Jackson sharks are endemic to waters around southern Australia. They tend to stay around the sea bottom, which is their feeding area, preferring rocky environments.
The short-tail nurse shark is only found in the western Indian Ocean. It’s caudal fin is only one quarter of the total body length, shorter than that of related species. This shark is the third member of the nurse shark family, and the only member of its genus.
Female bull sharks are pregnant for 10-11 months and birth between one and three pups. Males reach sexual maturity at age 14-15, while females don’t reach it til around age 18.
