The kitefin shark has a widespread patchy distribution. It is found in parts of the western and eastern Atlantic Ocean, the western Mediterranean, the western Indian Ocean, and the western and central Pacific Ocean.
“Bramble sharks” is the common name for the genus containing bramble sharks and prickly sharks. Both are stout, sluggish sharks with short noses and thorn-like denticles. Prickly sharks were recognized as a separate species in 1928. The main distinction is bramble sharks have fewer and sparser denticles.
We know very little about the breeding biology of graceful sharks. They appear to mate in January and February and give birth after around 9-10 months.
