When Students cheat on exams it’s because our School System values grades more than Students value learning.
School shouldn’t make kids cry, or want to throw up, or not have the energy to get up in the morning.
Learning should be a privlege but the school system is so fucked up that kids groan when they hear the word school or learning. I have friends who have mental health disorders because of school. Someone seriously needs to change the school system.
America’s Education System
You know what school teaches you? It doesn’t efficiently teach you how to get along with people, pay taxes, ace a job interview or even more importantly: be happy with yourself when others aren’t, know that you don’t need a significant other to be fulfilled, or that everyone is equal. You know what school teaches you? School teaches you to be a homework machine, to spit out worksheets and keep formulas in your head until the next test. It teaches you how to stay up late studying things you don’t even understand and sacrificing time with your family to put yet another number on your transcript. It teaches you to volunteer not because you care, but because colleges like people who volunteer. It teaches you to follow all their rules and then you get into the world and people wonder why everyone is the same, dull person.
My school teaches how to do job interviews and plan for the future and such but they do it in the worst possible way. Literally nobody likes it accept maybe the administration behind it. And we all have to learn it at some point and I think we all know that. I don’t understand why.
Schools…
Teachers get paid very little to teach. Teachers deal with kids who don’t want to learn. Teachers are paid based off how well they teach the kids who don’t want to learn. Teachers want kids to pass by having learned something but are forced to teach them enough so they pass the tests. Some teachers actually care about the students and how much they want to learn. Teachers deal with rude children and talkers. Teachers don’t get paid enough to deal with some students bullshit. Substitute teachers get paid even less, and are hired based on past performance, regardless of how badly the class behaves.
Students are constantly stressed out. Students deal with huge amounts of homework, on average, 4-5 days a week. Students are trying to complete assignments and study for 6-7 classes a day. Students deal with teachers who don’t care whether they pass the tests, because some teachers get paid well regardless of pass/fail numbers. Students don’t get enough sleep at night. Many students suffer from untreated learning disabilities, like ADHD. Students are expected to know what career field they want to be in for the rest of their lives by 18. Some students are in debt just for wanting to learn.NOBODY IS HAPPY WITH THE NORTH AMERICAN EDUCATION SYSTEM.
Acting like everyone has the same capacity for every subject as everyone else is stupid
“Oh we accept that!!!!” No you fucking don’t. When you attempt to accept it you come across as condescending. It is possible to say everyone has a different capacity for everyone without using that condescending fucking tone.
Meanwhile, over on Twitter…..
Yeah I’m bitter because two months from the end of last year I already had anxiety for next year. And I’m a good student. I go to a good school. The school system sucks. That’s it. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you go.
