I am sooo tired of people complaining that Biden’s been in office a whole 3 months and everything’s not fixed yet.
I, for one, am super excited about free community college.
Seriously. Some of y’all don’t know that community college and pre-public school childcare are not cheap and it shows
But what about the fact that there are a ton of studies saying young children needs less structured school time, not more.
Denmark did a study on just the difference between the early 5 year old and the late 5 year old entering kindergarten and the older child had better outcomes well into their teens.
Kids in the US have poor core muscles because they are sitting so much and aren’t involved in gross motor play.
An X-ray will show you the growth space between the bones of a four year olds hands. Their body’s are literally not built to hold a pencil at this point!
If you want to address the fact that school is used as a substitute for daycare – let’s have that discussion. There isn’t enough child care providers in this country and since there is a shortage centers can charge a ton. But more early schooling is not the answer.
That’s not what pre-school is, though. Kids don’t sit at a desk or write in pre-school. Pre-school is largely supervised play.
Yeah, this. Pre-school has NOTHING to do with whether or not kids enter kindergarten early or late.
It may happen sometimes in certain preschools, but in genera it really is just childcare, helping to develop the children? and it’s expensive as hell lol
Me: *needs to work on something due in less than a week*
My brain, vibrating at incredible frequencies: work on the assignment due in slightly over a week because it’s about Archer
Actually Though, the area I picked (Not Telling because privacy) is INCREDIBLE from a development perspective, in terms of how many things like grocery stores and public transport is accessible from it. I’m screaming about this too honestly like. I’d live there not even joking. hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Like I understand the mall had been there for a while and it’s kinda sad because I do have some nostalgia about it and also emotions similar to the ones invoked by Our Town (Cars soundtrack) but. it’s an incredible spot for housing etc development to the point where it’s actually somewhat of a shame that it wasn’t housing/mixed-use
