A dataminer on Twitter has been providing us with details of how certain rarities work in the Ultra Space, but he’s not a graphic designer so here’s his data presented by me in a more easy-to-understand form. :>
On Akala Island (the second island) in Alola, there’s a trick you can do once you have access to the Royal Avenue. In the top-right corner of the town is the Thrifty Megamart, which gives you a coupon for half-price on everything as soon as you enter it. Naturally, this fact can be utilised in a fun (if perhaps tedious) way!
The woman at the tills/checkout lane with the red apron sells Poke Balls for 100 PokeDollars each (with the discount applied upon buying)… however, you can also sell them back for 100 PokeDollars each. By buying 10 Poke Balls at a time (for 1000 PokeDollars) you get a free Premier Ball, and you can also sell those Poke Balls back for 1000 PokeDollars and keep the Premier Balls. Essentially, you can get infinite Premier Balls with a total cost of nothing, if you have the patience!
Sadly, you cannot use Roto Bargain in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to further reduce the price, but you can use it to do the same trick at other Poke Marts, albeit temporarily.
Okay can yall reblog this to share something that’s actually helpful? There are two websites that can assist people with triggers to know whether or not a movie is going to be something they should avoid. The first one is:
Originally created to list whether or not the animals in movies were harmed, it has expanded to list a number of triggering things like people being cut, jumpscares, strobe effects, vomit, deaths of children, and many more. For some categories it links to:
which has a similar format to Does the Dog Die but deals with a variety of sexual themes. It even elaborates on some of the checked categories just to let you know how serious or in what way the category is expressed in the movie.
I don’t like the environment of tumblr scaring people into thinking they don’t have the help or resources they need to live happy and without anxiety unless the right PSA floats across their dash. If there are any other databases anyone knows of that provide more info about media or elaborate upon MPAA ratings, please comment. Let 2018 be a year of empowerment.
some other sources:
common sense media is a generalized and well updated site that gives content warning as a guide to parents, but is also relevant and very helpful if youre looking for your own uses
also all IMDB movie pages have a ‘parents guide’ section that is extremely thorough and gives a description of all potentially disturbing scenes grouped by sex, violence, drugs/alcohol, etc
and wheres the jump is great for horror movies, it gives an exact timestamp and description of any jumpscares in the movie
Photoshop is the industry standard in some spheres, but I’ve got you covered if your budget is more like free. If you can or when you can, try to support these devs!
Here are a few of my favorites!
Krita – a fine example of free and open source software killing it. Great community, brushes, textures, UI, price! Geared more for painting than alternatives like GIMP. – Linux, macOS & Windows
MyPaint – has a lovely, endless canvas (raster) & nicely done brush engine. Free & open source. – Linux, macOS & Windows. Can require some technical knowledge to install on macOS (use MacPorts) & Windows.
Adobe Photoshop CS2 – if you don’t mind retro, here is a link to the old PS! – Linux, macOS & Windows
So recently I came across a fellow artist who was struggling to find a free art program, and considering dropping the large amount of money for a Photoshop license. I know not everyone can afford such an expensive program, so I’ve compiled a list of programs with no cost to download and use.
Keep in mind all computers are different, so not all will work for everyone. Also, I’ve only ever used Windows, so for the most part, I’m not sure if everything will work for Mac. if in doubt check the website linked.
If you know more free programs, please add onto this!
OpenToonz has made many improvements since it’s initial release! (Windows & Mac)
Medibang Paint is a comic drawing software forked from FireAlpaca mentioned earlier in this post, and is available for mobile devices as well! (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android)
Hey!! I just found this really cool podcast called Lore, it’s excellent if you love learning about the history of macabre/supernatural stuff, or just hearing spooky stories in general! (I’m kinda late actually, it’s been going since 2015 ^^; ) Each episode is only ~20-30 minutes long, and the host (Aaron Mahnke) is an excellent storyteller! I’ve only listened to a few episodes so far but it’s drawn me all the way in lol, definitely worth a listen!!
The book is called “The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures”, plus he’s also got “The World of Lore: Wicked Mortals” coming in 2018! He’s actually written some novels too, I haven’t read any of them yet but they’re pretty high on my list after starting the podcast >:3
(I mentioned the book in the tags of the original post, if anyone’s confused lol)
