I decided to make a list of DM stuff that I personally use or think are important to know when it comes to being a DM. So here’s my list:

Medieval Fantasy City Generator: This generator is now my LIFE. It generates incredibly complex cities with good customization. (Thanks to plantkat for sharing this site in their post here)

Naming Your Towns/Cities: Now that you’ve made your city, time to name it and give it some character! This post contains lots of great information.

Index Cards Rule: Fuckyeahdnd shared a SUPER convenient way of keeping track of turns and HP in combat. I use this system now for every single session I run.

Tricks & Traps: I am AWFUL at coming up with good Dungeon traps and challenges, this PDF includes some incredible ideas. The original poster, Courtney C. Campbell also runs a blog where she shares tons of great stuff. (Thanks to we-are-rogue for sharing the PDF in their post here)

Playing Different Types of Characters: Writeinspiration has a masterpost on how to write/play lots of different types of characters.

Unique NPC Jobs: Lauraharrisbooks wrote a list of different Fantasy Jobs which can help populate your world with some unique characters! Another similar post by Thewritershandbook also covers Common Occupations in the Middle Ages

Developing Characters by Threes: Monticusrex’s method of creating characters help you really flesh out who they are. Useful for Players and DM’s.

Troublesome Players? Speak Up: Dicebound brings up an incredibly great point. If someone is being a jerk, speak up and call them out. This is especially important and relevant now to crush awful behavior before it even has a chance to show it’s ugly face.

List of D&D Resources: And finally, pretty much anything you might need for D&D.

(Character stuff, spells, online communities/ways to play, etc..)

A lot of people contributed to this post but thank you Mushroomancy for posting the original list.

Donjon: And finally, this site is a great resource for looking up Spells and Monsters along with tons of other generators. Not every single Spell or Monster is on here, but most are listed.

(I tried to give credit to the original posters or the actual URL for websites, unless those sites or URLs were no longer active)

Incredible list!

ok here’s some furby advice

noodle:

never be spend more than 20$ per furby unless its a particularly sought after furby.  i rarely spend more than 15 for furby.   you can find any furby you want cheap you just have to be patient.

98/99s don’t cost 10+$ to ship out of box.

neon eyes will push a furbys value, so if you see a furby you want up for auction and it has neon eyes, and you don’t care if it has them or not, don’t spend the extra money.

if furby says me sleep again over and over when it turns on you have to hold down its tongue and hold it upside down and shake it.

if furby wont wake up pat it on its back for awhle to get its gears turning.

here’s a guide on how to skin furby ( and push start if patting doesnt work use this as a last resport )

acrylic paint is best to customize the plastic parts of the furby.  nail polish will stain it.  though its your furby in the end stain it all you want ( ive customized some of mine with nail polish bc theyre mine ) do not put nail polish remover on parts of the furby that it will  melt it like the eyes.

you can carefully clean them with a damp cloth.  if they smell bad put them in a bag with a dryer sheet and seal it for a couple days.  skinning to clean is always the best  but not everyone has access to how to sew them back together / new zipties.  if you do a full clean obviously do not put the whole furby in the water, unless the furby doesnt work or you just don’t care. again its your furby no one can stop you from ruining it if it makes you happy.

i clean mine with laundry detergent but only a tiny little bit!! dont bleach furbys.  dont get furbys fur too hot either or it might melt.

to get eyes out you take a hot glue gun and press the tip into a glue stick and press it over the eyes. be careful to not get the lashes. leave it for like half an hour or until completely cool and tug. it might take a couple tries

to customize their eyes you can either make eyes out of hot glue ( @furbeeb has a tutorial for this ),  take the paint off their eyes (takes a lot of scrubbing and rubbing alcohol ), or buy new eyes.  pullip eye chips for babies and blythe for adults.  you can find these on etsy, ebay, etc.  you can get blank ones real cheap and print out your own eye pattern to put on it.

you can take your furby out in public just be gentle with them.   in my experience people really don’t pay you any mind.  the only people who have ever tlked to me about having my furby out in public are people who are nostalgic and loved/miss the ones they had after seeing mine.

i dont know much about other furbys but.  booms/2012s/connects are REALLY loud.  and hyper.  dont pay over 20$ for a connect either they dont sell them anymore theyre not worth the original 60-100$ retail price.  05s are made out of some weird rubber and their beaks and feet are easily damaged. imo, shelbys are the most fun but they sell for a lot.

You might be interested in the dirtcore and naturecore aesthetics, but they aren’t inherently froggy. There’s also swampcore, but it’s a bit more niche than the other ones

Ay bratty I’m an amateur chef in college right now and recently I found this recipe for a cookie in a mug? And it’s SO easy to make and like I tried to find more recipes that are that easy and don’t require me to make a huge mess if I want a midnight snack do you have any recipes like that? Or maybe a link to a web page that does?

Today I learned

Free Audiobooks and Ebooks on OVERDRIVE.

Free Graphic Novels (DC, Marvel, Image, etc), Music, TV shows, and music on HOOPLA.

Free music that you can KEEP on FREEGAL

You are PAYING for all this with your tax money – USE THEM. Most likely systems will have all 3 or 2 out of 3, so if you aren’t sure call your local library’s reference/information desk and how you can get set-up or started.

Hey, highkey from a library worker:

Overdrive has a new mobile app called LIBBY I find it easier to use.  It’s the same content as Overdrive just better for mobile.  Overdrive and Libby both let you send items to your kindle as well.

Hoopla been clutch

I LOVE LIBBY

You know what my favorite feature is? If I don’t finish an audiobook and it’s on hold so I can’t renew it or I forget to renew it… the next time I check it out IT STILL REMEMBERS MY PLACE FROM THE LAST TIME I CHECKED IT OUT.

FUCKIN MAGIC

What Really Happens After the Apocalypse

elodieunderglass:

marthawells:

The myth that panic, looting, and antisocial behavior increases during the apocalypse (or apocalyptic-like scenarios) is in fact a myth—and has been solidly disproved by multiple scientific studies. The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program, a research group within the United States Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), has produced research that shows over and over again that “disaster victims are assisted first by others in the immediate vicinity and surrounding area and only later by official public safety personnel […] The spontaneous provision of assistance is facilitated by the fact that when crises occur, they take place in the context of ongoing community life and daily routines—that is, they affect not isolated individuals but rather people who are embedded in networks of social relationships.” (Facing Hazards and Disasters: Understanding Human Dimensions, National Academy of Sciences, 2006). Humans do not, under the pressure of an emergency, socially collapse. Rather, they seem to display higher levels of social cohesion, despite what media or government agents might expect…or portray on TV. Humans, after the apocalypse, band together in collectives to help one another—and they do this spontaneously. Disaster response workers call it ‘spontaneous prosocial helping behavior’, and it saves lives.

I’ve been sharing this article a lot recently! I think it’s important
