In my uneducated opinion I think maybe the best way to encourage people to research animals is to instill that idea on children and keep it going because adults are way too stubborn and people don’t usually want to admit that something is wrong with their care and change it

God, one of my moms friends was so “impressed” that I got a “good cat on the first try” and I was like wtf u mean? And she was telling me how cool it was that he doesn’t scratch my furniture and that she’s adopted and returned so many kittens. So, after reeling from the thought of adopting and returning an animal because, emotionally, how the hell do you even do that, I find out she has nothing to stimulate the cats, or anything for them to scratch. I explain to her that cats have to scratch things, so you provide them with stuff and they channel their urges. They get bored so you provide them with perches and toys, etc. shes all like

“Wow you did your research”

God damn, yeah I googled animal care for five minutes. Fucking impressive, maybe stay the hell away from cats for a while, ma’am 🙄

“good cat on the first try” i’m SEETHING

Look I really don’t understand the cat person/dog person thing like I like cats more but I still like dogs a lot and maybe it’s just because I really like all animals but it seems stupid that.. it seems like you have to dislike the other? Like if you’re a dog person you have to dislike cats and the other way around, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Both are incredible.
