ya know whats amazing to me? womens sports typically dont pay enough to make a living, even as a pro. This means that most female athletes, in leagues like the nwhl for example, have to work day jobs alongside their sport. and they’re still incredible. Like can you imagine how good these women would be if they could afford to focus just on their sport, like male athletes do? men wouldnt stand a damn chance

ellers:

reminder that men’s hockey and women’s hockey is not a competition of “which one is better” and you absolutely don’t need to shit on the NHL to promote women’s hockey and vice-versa !

same goes
for every other sports !

i see hockey fans on here every day screaming about representation and acceptance of lgbt+ athletes in hockey, and the NWHL has that, the league might not be perfect but they have out gay, bi & trans players. players who play great hockey, that you can watch for FREE. and yet that league is on the verge of shutting down. there is no other explanation i can come up with than sexism at this point ! there is no other excuse i can come up with, other than that, ppl do not watch these games or support this league because the majority of the players are women. idk if it’s subconscious or if it’s a choice but for some reason you don’t do it, and imho it’s sexism

or maybe people don’t watch these games because there simply isn’t enough media coverage for this league…. jumping straight to sexism is a pretty big leap even if it might be a minor factor

There’s also that a lot of people just don’t view women’s hockey as as competitive. Which is wrong, frankly, but that’s also a factor.
