The dent from the puck that hit Versteeg last night. He wasn’t in danger huh? Literally happens all the time.

Now imagine if he hadn’t turned his head, that’s what his forehead would’ve looked like. Still think this is okay?

I rewatched the clip–Skinner barely even saw him. He was 100% eyes on puck until followed through to goal, and of course then he noticed his old teammate. God, what a terrible situation. I know the rule that they needed possession, but jesus.

@seabass-aho Skinner is the least to blame in this situation. His reaction at seeing Versteeg down shows that. It wasn’t one of those “well I’ll show I feel bad because I’ve been caught”, it was a young player seeing another player down on the ice. I don’t think Skinner saw him until he was bringing his stick forward to get a shot on goal. At that point, there’s nothing that Skinner could have done.

yeah, I saw someone in the comments on a thread I was in saying he should be fined, which is why I wanted to clarify that it was absolutely NOT a dirty play on Skinner’s part. It’s just, this is a league where refs can spot a slashing IMMEDIATELY and call it, but a player laying immobile on the ice in the MAIN SHOT LANE ?? nah, let it be.

It’s infuriating.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS!? NHL WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

A player is down, clearly fucking injured, and your blind fucking officials don’t blow the whistle and he gets hit with a puck. WHAT THE FUCK.

“We care about our players.”

NO YOU FUCKING DON’T. NOOOOOO YOU FUUUCCCKKKKINNNGGGG DON’T.

I’m so pissed right now.

!!! yeah!!

WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN

WTF. something like this shouldn’t happen. I’m with her:

The nhl at least from a business standpoint probably only cares about the players who can make them a ton of money but only to the extent they can make them a ton of money and not really a whole fuck lot for their actual wellbeing and they’ll also let that player get away with shit a less valuable/skilled player would absolutely never get away with

so mitch marner played towards the end of the season with mono.

fun fact the reason you avoid contact sports and any abdominal contact at all really when you have mono is to avoid any risk of splenic rupture because splenic rupture involves a blood-filtering (and important to your immune system) organ rupturing and blood just kinda chillin in the rest of your abdominal cavity where it really isn’t supposed to be and hypovolemic shock and other fun things.

so my question is this: what chucklefuck decided it was a genius idea to let a kid with mono keep playing hockey, an aggressive full-contact sport where a huge part of the game is ramming into and getting rammed into by other, huger dudes

joe thornton was allowed to play in the first round despite there being a huge risk of completely blowing out his knee. nikita zaitsev was allowed to play in the first round with a concussion. zach werenski was allowed to finish a game despite having a WHOLE ENTIRE BROKEN FACE. not to mention everyone else with broken whatevers

tell me where the fuck it says in the NHL rulebook that players can ONLY stop playing when they just keel over and die right there on the ice
