You, an intellectual: 9+7=16

Me, with ADHD: if you take 1 from 9 and give it to 7 thats 8+8 and 8×2 is 16

Someone, usually a Teacher: NOT LIKE THAT YOU HEATHEN

This is literally how I would have done it

9 is a hungry bitch and takes one from 7, making it 10+6=16

VALID

THIS IS WHY I COULDN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SHOW MY WORK IN MATH. I’M NOT STUPID OH MY GOD

Wait did the way you were doing it not count? The point of showing work, I always thought was to.. make sure you could solve the problem? As long as you get the right answer it shouldn’t matter? (Unless the method doesn’t always work or you were supposed to be practicing a certain method)

No. Obviously you’re not stupid. Teachers were clearly the stupid ones.

No, we were always supposed to learn it the way the teachers taught us, and that was never the way. They didn’t care about teaching us the answers to equations, just how to get those answers, which made sense but I had trouble following. I always approached equation from a different angle and it was slow but I understood it.

In the vast majority of circumstances arriving at the right conclusion should be correct. There’s no reason other than being obnoxious and controlling to police the method most of the time. It just crushes originality and.. it’s just stupid on every level.
