honestly the amount of explicit sexual content in the Lego Batman Movie fandom is indicative of a bigger issue.
y’all seem to be incapable of seeing two men in a relationship that doesn’t revolve around sex bc your perception of gay men is just that heavily rooted in fetishization and stereotypes. so even when you’re given a children’s movie about fucking bricks, the second there’s any kind of connection between two male characters, you immidiately start to hypersexualize what should be an innocent relationship. given the nature of the source material, there is absolutely no reason why so much nsfw content in the fandom exists.
if you go into the Lego Batman Movie tag right now, I guarantee you one of the first few posts you find will have suggestive content wherein it is either implied or outright stated that Joker and Batman are fucking. If Batman/Joker were not a m/m pairing, this would not be the case.
tldr;The overwhelming presence of sexual content in the TLBM fandom is because y’all can’t seem to fathom that two men can be in a relationship and not feature sex as a focal point.
