I am so used to twist villains who seem nice and potentially nuanced that when their true nature is revealed and they end up horrible monsters that lose all their complexity, that I was really expecting Omni-Man to end up the same way. To my delight, the finale had him be both horrifically monstrous…yet still a complex, conflicted character with the capacity for genuine emotions, and even tears. That kind of dichotomy rarely exists, the horrific actions like the subway murders and brutal beatdown of mark usually are the climax that proves that the character is beyond saving or any sort of humanization at all, and yet the baseball flashback happens afterwards, showing the humanity he’s been suppressing.

Omni-Man is a horrible person who is nonetheless still a person with feelings and reactions that feel genuine, and somehow, still the potential for growth. And none of it feels hamfisted or cheap. That’s really damn impressive character work.
