Honestly the Baby Boomer/Millennial debate only exists because the generations are so different that it’s hard for them to understand each other. It’s a ridiculous debate, if everyone took a step back and actually listened to the other side, the entire mess would be done already.
It is not that insane to say that technology has had a negative impact on some things.
“Technology ruins social interactions” EXPLAIN WHY MY BEST FRIEND IS ON THE INTERNET, THEN, IT CAN’T POSSIBLY BE BECAUSE I CAN’T SOCIALIZE THAT WELL IN REAL LIFE, CAN IT?
I know the post was referring to in-person interaction, and I’ll be honest, I kinda feel like technology has had a negative aspect on some things, especially in regards to in-person interaction. I agree with that sentiment. (And I’m a very frequent user of technology. I think I’m addicted, honestly)
But people who say that also say online interactions aren’t as real. Firstly, I didn’t realize that seeing a face was necessary to exchange words. Writing is real, right?
Goddamn. I can’t stand the Millennial V. Baby Boomer debate, but anyone who trashes online interactions can die. Slowly.
Okay, so apparently it is now homophobic to be a fan of Yuri On Ice because the show’s creator made a homophobic tweet all the way back in 2010 and blocks people whenever they bring it up now.
Don’t act all high and mighty on this. You know DAMN WELL that you wouldn’t respond well if somebody dug up something offensive or cringey that YOU said 6 or 7 years ago! Not to mention, if somebody seriously went through the trouble of digging up an offensive tweet from TWO THOUSAND AND FUCKING TEN, then chances are they‘re impossible to reason with anyway. Normal people do not search through someone’s entire Twitter page just to find some dirt on them, so those people are NOT worth anything more than an immediate block.
People change over time. We’ve all done and said shit that we’re embarrassed about, or that we regret. If you’re trying to hold something that this person said in 2010 against them in 2017 just for the sake of calling their work problematic, then you’re being incredibly unreasonable. Stop making drama and just let gay people enjoy things.
@lethal-cuddles Don’t you know on tumblr your either flawless or flawed and if you flawed and made mistakes back then and learned from said mistakes your still a monster because tumblr logic
