if it takes a blm post to be aesthetically pleasing for you to rb youre not being an activist or supporting black lives

tacking “your favourite says black lives matter” or “all cops are bastards especially whatever bastard cop you’re related to” onto an anime image is doing absolutely nothing but trivializing the situation congratulations

I’m a cashier and the plexiglass shield has baffled me sense the beginning. We’re still exchanging money with one another that can easily transfer covid-19 and we’re already required by law to wear face masks. The glass makes it hard for me to easily scan items and has served more so as an inconvenience than a good protector. To me, it’s a case of “good intentions, but had execution”

pretty much every visible protection is about placebo. masks, plexiglass shields, schools staggering class days, it’s all about making people feel safe but they don’t do shit.

Pretty sure the plexiglass is for the worker’s sake, not ours, boys. We may only interact with them once, but they have go through entire shifts dealing with dozens, if not hundreds, of people who may or may not be infected. They’re ina riskier position than most, and this is for their benefit.

Yeah, what if someone comes through checkout not wearing a mask, like an asshole? What if someone sneezes?

The masks are ABSOLUTELY not placebos, they reduce your germ cloud to a small percentage of what it would otherwise be. Don’t put that shit out there.

Also the potential virus on the clerk’s hands is a way smaller amount than what’s going to be coming out in their breath, if they’re infected, by reason of the virus lives inside you not on the surface of your body. And by the time you get home a large percentage of any microbes will have died of exposure. As opposed to the ones in their breath on your face, which is definitely still live.

This isn’t magic pollution, guys. Just because it’s invisible doesn’t mean it’s not following physical laws.

Also, since I’ve seen it complained about, the plastic they tape over the touchscreen or the number pad or what-have-you at the checkout? Not to replace the surface everyone touches with a different surface that everyone touches, but because the plastic handles being sanitized a lot better than the touchscreen does, and is cheaper to replace if repeated sanitation degrades it.

This. The barriers are so the cashiers aren’t getting breathed on by every customer, not so the cashier isn’t breathing on you. And the plastic covers on the card readers can get replaced every day, unlike the readers themselves.

It’s there for the worker’s sake not yours.

that includes vaping, ESPECIALLY cheap vapes you buy online from like e-bay. If you’re going to vape then get a good-quality one from a reputable source otherwise it can hurt you really badly. But don’t start a nicotine addiction if you don’t already have one. It’s really, really not worth it. I’m not going to use scare tactics or bash you or talk down to you if you already smoke or vape but it’s just some friendly advice.

hey kids following me seriously don’t smoke…i know the commercials are fucking annoying but that doesn’t make it worth it and quitting is hard, i haven’t had a cig in like six months and i still get bad cravings and think about smoking every other day

People are reblogging this with tags like “why would you have a nicotine addiction, idiots, its boring/only for edgy points, smoke weed instead” and that just so utterly misses the point of my post…I didn’t start smoking for “edgy points”, I started because I grew up around a family that smokes, I was stressed as hell, and just that first cig made me feel better in the moment.

I get what you’re trying to say but you have to understand that there are kids who grow up on tobacco, there are kids who don’t know how else to cope, there are kids who think it’s a small way to rebel against someone who hasn’t treated them fairly. Most of these kids are in poverty or are seriously struggling. It’s not fair to label them as nothing but attention seeking morons.

This falls into the category of “making kids feel like shit for smoking” which you shouldn’t do. It only breeds resentment and kids don’t deserve to feel that way.

Idiots on tumblr: GOBLIN CORE! I’m a goblin I protect,,, shinies… I am disgusting… WANT SHINIES

My Jewish ass:

I’d actually appreciate it if people could reblog this! Goyim especially but don’t add anything!

[Image Description: Gif of the 10th Doctor, brows furrowed, saying “No. Don’t do that.” End ID]

This Jew would like to suggest, for those who may not know why this is a bad thing (goblins are all-the-bad-stereotypes Jew caricatures and you can see why that’s bad) but have no interest in perpetuating that bad thing, that you adopt “corvidcore” instead.

(Corvids are the family that include crows, ravens, and blue jays.)

Crows and ravens are loud, ominous, traditional harbringers of omens, psychopomps. Fuckin’ love shiny things. CLEVER AS FUCK. Vengeful, vindictive, but can also communicate “hey, this person is nice, be nice to them” to others in the same species and may give gifts to favored humans. CARNIVORES. (Some of the shit they eat, man. Yikes.)

And then there are blue jays, which are very pretty assholes.

So you get all the same aesthetic without the gross baked-in antisemitism! Plus you get an added layer of cool just because fuck yeah, crows.

CORVIDCORE

CORVIDCORE, Y’ALL

REBLOG TO SAVE YOUR QUEER HEART FROM BREAKING

I’ve seen a bunch of people in the notes concerned (like I was) of comparisons of members of the lgbt to dogs: but upon visiting their website I was reassured that they monitor a variety of content, including (but not limited to):

THIS IS A GOOD SITE

Yeah, this site is literally so people can check for content they don’t want to see…or in some cases content that would make them physically or mentally ill. (I have strobe issues myself…)

It’s highly useful for a lot of people.

I had no idea they warned for strobe effects, that’s awesome! They give me headaches and nausea.

wholeheartedsuggestions:

father’s day for many is hard. this post is dedicated to those who see the cards come out and feel sick. some fathers leave, some abuse, some neglect, some have passed away. whatever the case may be, it can be trying. i hope you get through the day feeling as good as possible. just another day in the year. remember you are not obligated to love someone who hurts you even if it’s a parent. for those who have good fathers, i hope you have the best day with them.
