I’m tired of shootings being a vessel for the gun debates and a few days of “prayers”. The conversation about how to stop these should not stop and really the targets should come off the people on the other side and go back to the other side. Shootings need to stop, this isn’t a “I can’t believe how dumb the other side is” debate. This is a matter of lives, not who can get their word in after a tragedy.

If limiting guns will actually stop gun violence, limit them. If that’s not the case, don’t limit them to that extent. Guns aside, we need to stop this violence at its source.

It’s lives, fuckwits. Not an ideological validity contest. Honestly we should work together to find the sources and stop it.

Seventeen people get murdered in cold blood, and all you can think is how to advance a political agenda.

Disgusting.

Has anyone ever considered the schools themselves need to be looked at? As in, maybe public school is the exact kind of breeding ground for these sorts of people?

School sucks for a lot of people for various reasons, but of course none of THAT could /ever/ lead to violence! Of course not..

Mental health care in schools? Not the problem.

I hate the idea that the tool and not the mentality that leads to violence is the problem.

Also gun safety should be taught a lot more and people who shouldn’t have access to guns shouldn’t be able to get them, but it’s.. not the guns. It’s people.

In my experience, a lot of the gun advocates who pull the “people are the problem, not guns” card are surprisingly disinterested in doing anything to limit the threat posed by said dangerous people.

That’s unfortunate, because that should be the main point. That’s how violence stops, whether that’s by limiting guns or helping out people, or both. It’s sure as shit not neither.

No citizen should be legally allowed to buy an AR-15. None

Adolt Hitler circa 1930′s: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow
the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all
conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms
have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

Modern “nice jewish guy: I think we should ban the population from owning guns because the police will protect us”

Hey guys, guess what he didn’t say:

  • all guns
  • or even more than one kind of gun

He said AR-15’s. The model most used in mass shootings.

Just to update everyone: the recent mass shooting in Florida was the 29th in 2018.

There have only been 45 days in 2018.

But no, yeah.

Let’s not tighten the reins on high-capacity semi-and automatic weapons. That’ll definitely make a difference.

@guns-and-freedom are there stats of what’s the most commonly used gun in mass shootings? I figured you would know.

Also, you take away one gun, a different one gets used. That one gets to be the most used next for a mass shooting in a gun-free zone.
