“Assault weapon” and “assault rifles” are malleable terms often used in public discourse to scare people. After all, all guns are designed to “assault” something. The usual proper use of this term is to describe fully automatic machine-gun-style weapons, which in the United States have been banned from civilian use for years. Notice that the Merriam-Webster change stretches this definition to include anything that looks like such a gun regardless of whether it shoots like one.
this is the funniest thing i’ve ever heard all day are you ready?
“Hitler… had gun control.”
he also had a intimate relationship to being a nazi but go off i guess
You saying there’s a correlation here?
Interesting…
To be fair nearly every totalitarian government disarms it’s population. It’s almost like they know that people with weapons are harder to control and oppress or something.
i’ve been doing this a long time so I pretty much know the game, and I’m going to preempt any accusations of “oh so you’ll listen to a parkland high schooler if they agree with you!?!”by saying that if this kid was spouting off unfounded bullshit, even if it seemed to agree with my sensibilities, I would not be sharing it. I’ve already shared a post calling out the fake Emma Gonzalez tearing up the constitution picture. If we’re going to make arguments and be better then the virtue signalers then we have to be honest in our approach no matter what.
The reality is this is just one of several kids at Parkland who have had alternative opinions on the issue, but of course these are not the people that get the most attention.
anti-gun weirdoes: oh yeah well how about if GAY PEOPLE and BLACK PEOPLE and SEX WORKERS and OTHER VULNERABLE MINORITIES STARTED BUYING GUNS????
pretty much every single gun owner i’ve known: for self defense? hell yeah, that’s actually exactly what we want. vulnerable people to be able to defend themselves, their lives, their property, and others-
