just a friendly reminder: FRIENDSHIPS ARE RELATIONSHIPS, TOO.

anangstyblackgirl:

  • friends can be emotionally abusive.
  • friends can be physically abusive.
  • friends can disappoint you.
  • friends can lie to you.
  • friends can make you wonder if they found someone better than you.
  • friends can be manipulative.
  • friends can give you severe trust issues.
  • friends can dump you.
  • friends can be jealous that other people want to be friends with you.
  • friends can argue over the same issue repeatedly because someone’s needs aren’t being met.
  • friends can hurt you.
  • friends can judge you.
  • friends can ghost you.
  • friends can damage your self esteem.

there does not have to be a romantic undertone. we put so much weight on romantic relationships that we forget how important friendships are. romance does not automatically give your relationship more validity. treat them the same.

I don’t get why not having many friends is an insult like it’s not great I’d like to have more than one friend but honestly @kyeabove is better ALONE than all my middle school friends COMBINED so.. quality over quantity I guess.

Shout out to all your internet friends who are gone.

Those messenger screen names that haven’t logged on in ages, some before detailed profiles were a thing on those services.

Those emails that are long since abandoned, some with domains that no longer exist.

Those online friends you knew years ago and who then helped shaped you in some way, who you just can’t FIND anymore.

Those people who once were, and hopefully still exist IRL, that seem to have no known internet life anymore.

And those who have actually passed on, and their online lives are now a memorial to them.

I miss you all. I hope life is/was kind to you, and maybe one day, we’ll somehow connect again.

I love the power of friendship osmosis.

“I don’t really know much about this thing, but my friend likes this thing. So by the transitive property, I like this thing and feel defensive over this thing on behalf of my friend. And if I see this thing while out with other friends, I will excitedly point it out and announce that it is the thing my first friend likes. I will also feel happy when I see it, as it reminds me of my friend, and time permitting, I will take pictures of it to show my friend later.”
