Saw this and wanted to share it, because stop shipping celebrities, when they tell you to stop. It makes them uncomfortable and as you see it doesnt end well.
If being shipped with your friend ruins your relationship with that person, you’re the problem. If someone implying you’re gay or dating one of your friends bothers you to this degree, that’s homophobic. Or at the very least, just kinda shitty
WHAT IS REALLY SHITTY IS THAT SHIPPING REAL PEOPLE WITHOUT CONSENT OR AGAINST THEIR GODDAMN WILL TO THE POINT OF FRACTURING A FRIENDSHIP IS INVASIVE AND CREEPY THEN GUILTING THEM BECAUSE “IT’S HOMOPHOBIC” IS MANIPULATIVE AS FUCK STOP DOING THAT OH MY GOD
For YEARS everyone in everyone in every fandom with an ounce of sanity has been protesting shpping real people that are clearly uncomfortable with it.
Yet these people STILL keep finding ways to rationalize it even as they’re presented with a story about it destroying a friendship. AMAZING.
I feel like I’m the only one who just… doesn’t read fanfic? Like, I’ve got nothing against the idea of it. But, it seems to be this ingrained thing in fandom that most people do, eventually do, or have this crazy obsession with and I’m just meh about it.
i don’t either. im too picky about what i want that ive never really found any i liked. like once or twice ive read specific ones but ive never Read Fanfiction in general. sometimes i write it tho
by this point my entire stance on being in fanbases is that it feels like i’m trying to live peacefully in a secluded cottage and do my own thing while also witnessing the fall of the roman empire right next door
There’s this… phenomenon… I’ve witnessed in several fandoms, where a particular blog gets really popular within a fandom.
And suddenly that blog will start getting people literally asking them for permission to hold certain opinions. I don’t mean someone just asking “hey can I get your feelings/opinions on this subject” but “is it okay if I think/do xyz?” like some child asking their parent if they can go somewhere.
Worse, is when these blogs start taking these questions seriously and feeding them answers. Like they suddenly start believing that they truly have this authority. I mean it’s bad enough when people do this and the blogger is just like “well I have my own opinion but don’t ask me” but when they start to actually act like they can tell other people what they are “allowed” to do.
This I the creepiest fucking thing on tumblr I swear.
Why would you give some random stranger on the internet that much power over your mind? Why would you be so afraid of forming your own opinions that you have to ask someone else to give you opinions to hold?
And so often they end up with a rabble ready to crucify anyone who doesn’t do as they are told, and that’s when I really run for the hills…
why do ppl hate being critical of the shows they watch and start screaming ‘can’t we enjoy anything anymore?!’ like it costs literally nothing to admit your show has problems/has fucked up and that they’re wrong for it but we have grown adults on this site who can’t seem to wrap their heads around that concept lmao
