Alfie’s Army

What is it with Britain and deciding on disabled children’s rights to life in the courtroom???? 😡

https://www.instagram.com/alfiesarmy

Alfie is a little English boy less than 2 years old who has an undiagnosed brain condition. The court is deciding whether or not to take him off life support, despite obvious signs that he is alive and fighting.

here are some photos from their instagram

Tomorrow at 2pm GMT, the judge in Britain will be deciding on life or death for little Alfie

It’s over 😦 They’re going to take Alfie off life support.

Appeal! Another chance!

Sign the petition to make the hospital release him to his parents! Link

Currently the hospital is refusing to release him and thus denying the parents a chance to take Alfie to a different hospital, one that might try other options to save him instead of just deciding he will die.

this was posted about an hour ago, and currently it is 12:15am in Britain

this was added two hours ago, it is currently 6:30am in Britain

I am unable to add a photo update, but Alfie has now been breathing on his own for 23 hours, and I have heard rumors that Italy has declared him a citizen, so that will hopefully pressure the hospital enough to release him asap to a country who will actually help! Keep praying 🖤

also this is legit a little creepy

…just a little bit ……..

unexpected

The battle is over, the war for the right to life is far from won.

Rest in peace, Alfie Evans

This was horrible. That baby had every chance to live and the medical staff did everything they could to ensure Alfie died. Every doctor, nurse, guard and legislator involved in this has this child’s blood on their hands and are essentially murderers.

This breaks my heart and I’m completely disgusted with the people who let him die. Who WANTED him to die.

Choosing any airline these days is like picking which indignities you’re most willing to endure, but United seems to be on a sworn mission to be the most hated airline in the country. Between pet murdering, properly destroying, and passenger assaulting, they will stop at nothing until you’d rather take the train. But then again Amtrak can’t seem to go three months without a crash so maybe we all just stay at home.

What did they do this time?

Forced a woman to store her dog in an overhead carrier where it suffocated to death. As I understand it they had gotten a special TSA approved pet carrier and paid extra to have the dog ride with them under the seat, but the flight attendant ignored this and insisted that they put it up in the overhead luggage compartment for a three hour flight with no food or water and very limited air. The dog barked for while and then fell silent, and when they landed they pulled the dog out and he was dead. The flight attendant then started freaking out and insisting she didn’t know there had been a dog despite the fact that it was fucking barking and multiple other passengers saw the whole thing including the woman telling her that it was a dog.

The care that went into preserving Lonesome George, the last Pinta Island Galapagos tortoise [Chelonoidis abingdonii]. Lonesome George offered a unique challenge for the taxidermists at the American Museum of Natural History, who were not merely preserving a specimen, but rather a beloved ecological symbol whose passing was mourned across the globe.

Are We Too Hard On Our Vets?

theexoticvet:

“Every Time”

Every time you say vets are money grubbing, or ‘too expensive’ or just in it for the money.

Every time you decline all diagnostics yet demand to know ‘what’s wrong with my pet’

Every time at a social function or other completely inappropriate
place you find out that someone is a vet you ask them for free advice
about your animal.

Every time you feel justified posting a shitty practice or vet review
when everything was done according to the standard of care but your pet
died anyway.

Every time YOUR lack of preventative care resulted in your pets early death yet you blame the veterinarian.

Every time she gets in early and stays late and works an 80 hour week
because your pet that had been ill for days suddenly becomes an
emergency at 5pm on a Friday and you demand to be seen – claiming these
heartless vets won’t treat your baby.

Every time someone says ‘why didn’t you become a real doctor?’

Every time someone complains about the cost of veterinary care…
comparing human medicine and insurance subsidies to pet ownership
(totally voluntary btw).

Every time that someone doesn’t pay their bill and thinks that they are entitled not to because pet ownership is their ‘right’.

Every time someone walks in to a clinic and threatens to ‘sue your ass if you make one mistake with my baby’.

Every time a graduate vet looks at the hundreds of thousands of
dollars in crippling debt and listens to clients driving Mercedes and
bmws complain about the cost of a spay using good anesthetic care and
adequate pain management.

Every time… You are part of the problem.

The problem is suicide in veterinarians. Most of us went to
veterinary school because we care. We have a calling to care…. but there
is a dark and expensive cost to compassion.

Think before you act or speak.
