Hope people who know nothing about death note understand the human boy is the deeply unhinged one in this duo.

@mexican-pinapple I honestly couldn’t care less about the Death Note thing one way or the other. Of course I care about things that don’t matter. Everyone does. Everyone is also a hypocrite in that regard because if the dumb thing isn’t important to them they tell people to focus on more important things.
But it’s also like… there’s already plenty Japanese Death Notes. Races are changed all the time for whatever reason. People make versions of things that fit their culture all the time. It’s either never okay or never okay, and I’ve seen that it’s okay sometimes, not okay others.
But like. Netflix is a mess anyway. If they want to change a race for no reason other than it’s more recognizable to a (probably) majority white audience, that’s on them. It’s not like there’s no Japanese representation in Death Note.
However, I do think changing the race for no reason is unnecessary and… wrong, I guess. I just don’t see why it’s such a big deal.
“Death Note is whitewashed”
