I want everyone to watch this video. Philip DeFranco is talking about a YouTube channel called DaddyOFive, ran by a man blogging about his family’s everyday life and regularly uploading “prank” videos. This man and his wife prank each other and their children, who are also made to prank each other for more material they put into monetized videos.
As you will see in this video, the way they treat their children (especially Cody, who I assume to be 7-9 years old) is outright horrid and abusive, though. Cody seems to be the only one of the children who gets visibly upset over his parents’ “pranks” fairly frequently, begging them to leave him alone and quit messing with him and yelling at them to stop.
In the first clip that’s shown in DeFranco’s video, the parents pour invisible ink all over the floor and blame Cody for it, filming his reaction. He is shown yelling and crying, nearly panicking and insisting that he has nothing to do with it, but they don’t stop. Instead, they keep yelling and cursing at him at the top of their lungs, only to tell him and his brother that it’s “just a prank” once they stopped crying.
Another clip shows the mother filming Cody and yelling at him for not being able to “take a joke”, manipulating him and putting all the blame on him instead of apologizing. They constantly follow him around with their camera, not giving him any personal space and filming as many of his reactions as possible to humiliate him in front of thousands of viewers.
But it gets worse than that. A different clip shows the father pushing Cody face first into a bookshelf. He is then shown crying on his bed, with a bleeding nose, next to a blood-stained pillow. His father then claimed that it was “red ink” and that he simply had a scrape underneath his nose.
On top of that, the man who runs this channel uploaded a video titled “BLOCKING ALL THE HATERS”, ranting about the people complaining about their videos and pointing out how horribly they treat their kids in front of his children, even making sure they listen to every word he says.
In DeFranco’s video, it becomes obvious that they constantly manipulate, emotionally abuse and physically abuse their children, egging them on and keeping them under control by making them say things like: “At least you don’t hit us like most parents!”
I encourage everyone to watch this video to get a better idea of the situation. If you can, that is.
Social services have been called on this family before, but no consequences have followed
I legit feel ill watching the short clips of the kids, but I still believe it should be broadcasted what pieces of garbage these parents are.
Fuck them. Fuck them and their greedy fucking souls.
Please please PLEASE do not watch the video if you are triggerd by any of the warnings. I personally am not, but even I found it incredibly hard and distrubing to watch.
I felt the same way. I will never understand how parents can treat and manipulate their children this way and never feel remorse.
Here’s an addition that shows just how much they terrorize them.
They pretend to destroy their children’s possessions and laugh at their reactions. That alone is enough to leave deep scars on anyone’s mental health, especially a child’s.
DeFranco mentioned that these people tend to terrorize Cody the most, but looking through their list of videos, I couldn’t believe just how many videos are about Cody.
They obviously enjoy humiliating their kids, but to me, it seems like they’re intentionally abusing Cody the most for not playing along as much as they wish he did. I also feel like this is just another tactic to keep their children under control and have them play along. An indirect way of saying “Don’t be as whiny and difficult as Cody, or else we’ll treat you the same way.”
When Cody yelled at them and said “You made me go through all this just for a stupid prank?!”, it broke my heart. These people don’t have a single shred of love or empathy for their children.
Another addition:
Apparently, they uploaded a video in which they made Cody think he was going to be put up for adoption, filming his reaction. As you can imagine, Cody was horrified, begging them to let him stay.
Supporters of his parents have used his reaction to try and prove that their kids are happy, claiming that Cody wouldn’t have fought so hard to stay if he was unhappy with his family. Of course, Mike Martin (the father) reblogged the tweets defending him.
These people publicly abuse and humiliate their children in exchange for money. That’s not an assumption, it’s a proven fact. It doesn’t matter whether the children are aware of the abuse or not, or how they feel about their parents’ “pranks”.
Of course the thought of being taken away from your home and the family you’ve known for your whole life would terrify a child as young as Cody. Their parents have manipulated them into thinking that they’re lucky to live with them and pressured them to play along with their “pranks” for several years. They’ve made their children think that this kind of life is normal and that they have nothing to complain about. They don’t know any better. A child’s horrified reaction to the thought of being placed into a completely unfamiliar home consisting of strangers they think they’ll be forced to live with for the rest of their life is not proof that a child is not being abused.
In fact, most children who live in abusive homes love their parents dearly and can’t imagine living without them because they are so emotionally dependent on them.
Ignoring that is incredibly dangerous.

I was reading the Facebook comments on another video about those disgusting redneck hicks who abuse their children on Youtube for money and came across a petition that was posted a few months ago. It says that the two youngest ones (who get the brunt of that bullshit) were taken from their mother… I mean, I don’t know how true it is but considering the way they’re treated in that house I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. But allegedly Cody and Emma (the two young kids) are the biological kids of the dad, but not the mom (I think the parents’ names are Mike and Heather or something idk) and when they went to stay with the dad and stepmom they never came home and the mom was falsely accused of something (idk what) and the dad forged legal documents or something, idk. Either way the whole thing is so fucked up. And now those horrible people are trying to say that the videos are all scripted and fake and that’s such a load of bullshit… those are REAL tears and REAL reactions.
And I had posted yesterday about that video where it appears Cody is self harming, and these assholes posted a video yesterday or two days ago idk that says they’re going to Disney but leaving Cody behind because of “behavioral problems” which eventually were revealed to be him smearing shit on the walls or something similar which can be another sign of depression and anxiety or other issues that need attending to. No, these parents decided that they would sit and call him “crazy” for a Youtube video and say there’s something wrong with him instead of thinking that maybe they should take their child to a psychiatrist to have him evaluated to see if there’s an underlying issue or condition.
There are people who can’t have children and would be amazing parents and these pieces of shit have five… disgraceful.
In case anyone is interested, someone alleges to have found a police report from October 2016. Their bio mom reported the case to her state’s CPS (North Carolina) who agreed it WAS child abuse. He simply had the toilet overflow, and they, “didn’t want to embarrass him” by telling the truth of what happened. Either way, in both videos (their going to Disney vlog and Keemstar’s garbage interview), you can clearly tell the stepmother picks on Cody more than her own biological children.
Well, that’s a relief actually that he isn’t actually smearing his shit, that means he’s still somewhat okay (the arm scraping still has me concerned for his mental health). I’ll have to watch the interview (although I’m sure it’ll piss me off since I haaate these parents).

As a person who was emotionally and physically abused as a child (even at Cody’s age), I am disgusted these people are profiting off of their child’s abuse and I’m even more disgusted that people are egging this on. I’m livid that Cody has to go through this day in and day out, yet people don’t see a problem with it? There’s a fine line between swatting your child’s bum (not even hard) for a last resort of punishment than fucking pushing your child face first into a shelf while making him bleed. If they put that in camera, what are they doing behind the scenes? I’ve never felt so disgusted in my life. How can people cheer them on and think this okay? These parents deserve to be behind bars and have their children placed in a better home. Absolutely sick with how people think this behavior is okay.
there’s this horrible video that i won’t link because it made me sick and i refuse to look it up again (it was called “Cody Was Bad In School”) where the little one, Cody, got a letter from his teacher that he was scraping his arms and drawing blood at school instead of doing his work. instead of being concerned that his clearly VERY YOUNG child was showing what could be signs of self harm, anxiety, or depression (or all three), that piece of shit who had the nerve to call himself a father chose to record himself screaming at his son, cursing at him, and making his son feel like shit (and he started scraping his arms again, causing his father to scream even more). the video was practically 30 minutes of this shit. 30 minutes of a man screaming at and berating his little child so that he could get views on youtube. sure, sometimes kids need to be scolded, but for something like that? and then filming it to put online for hundreds upon thousands of strangers to watch? it’s sick. and to top it off, this asshole put fucking music behind it. like he edited it to give it a damn soundtrack while he documents himself screaming at and cursing at his kid for having obvious anxiety issues.

That fuckstain of a dad looks like every podunk loser I went to high school with, down to the shitty vacant expression, goatee, and pierced ear.
Even based on the ‘it’s fake’ video there seems to be a lot of just… not lies, but ‘I am too stupid to understand what the problem is.’
Like, he says ‘we ask the kids for prank ideas’ but that doesn’t mean they get all the kids to agree on the videos. “We ask the oldest one for a prank idea and he says we should bully the shit out of the little one” is ‘asking the kids for an idea.’ It doesn’t mean the other kids are in on it.
And that seems to be what’s happening. Because kids – especially young kids – are not good actors, and these kids are genuinely terrified and upset in some of these videos. So it might be ‘fake’ in the sense of ‘everyone except for Cody knows what’s going on, because it’s Joshs’ turn to make the prank, and he picked Cody’ but they’re not ‘fake’ in the sense of ‘the kids know that it’s a prank on them.’
It’s pretty fucking easy to tell when a 6 year old is legitimately or fake crying, they’re 6. They’re not good actors.
The ‘fake’ ones are the ones where the parents get pranked, for sure.
I’m going to preface this post with a content warning. This post is about child abuse. The video I’m going to link includes actually video footage of child abuse. It is one of the most upsetting videos I have ever watched. My post includes in depth descriptions of child abuse.
This morning I watched a Youtube video discussing and highlighting what is happening on another Youtube channel. If you have the stomach for it, I’d suggest watching the video because Phillip DeFranco does a much better job of summarizing the situation than I can.
For those of you who can’t watch, I’ll give you a very brief rundown.
The Youtube channel DaddyOfFive is a combination family vlog and prank channel. In a recent video, the parents pull a prank where they pour invisible ink on one of the kid’s floors and then make him think that they believe he poured ink all over the floor. They scream and swear at this little boy, shouting things like “What the fuck did you do?” while the boy cries and cowers, looking genuinely terrified. Even the best child actors could not pull off looking as genuinely devastated as this child does.
As DeFranco highlights in his video, although all the children are pranked, it seems that this one child (Cody) takes the brunt of the cruelty. In many videos he is seen being hit, kicked, pushed, and pinned down by his older siblings. In one video his father pushes him face first into a book case. In one video Cody begs his family to stop, saying that he’s tired of this. In another video his parents scream at him and tell him he’s the only one in the family who can’t “take a joke”.
In response to some of the flak they have been getting, the parents uploaded a video about “Blocking All The Haters”. They goad the children into saying on camera that they aren’t being abused. Now keep in mind, the kids have been told that all the “Cool stuff” they have been getting is because of the Youtube channel. They know that if the pranks stop, the cool stuff goes away. Most of the children chime in that they are not being abused. Cody hardly says anything. The oldest boy says, “At least you aren’t beating us”.
What is happening to Cody is child abuse. It is emotional, psychological and physical abuse. It is torture. And the worst part of it all is that it is monetized. The parents are being paid by advertisers to abuse this child under the guise of “It’s just a prank, bro”.
So what can we do?
First of all, we can report the videos on DaddyOfFive’s channel for containing depictions of child abuse. If you decide to help by doing this, please be sure to flag the specific instances of abuse such as Cody being pushed or the parents screaming vulgarities at the children.
Second of all, we can let the companies advertising on this channel know that we won’t be buying anything from a company that sponsors videos of child abuse.
Finally, if anyone knows this family in person, they can make a report to CPS. Now the family is claiming that they’ve already been investigated and “cleared” by CPS, but that’s not how this works. Repeated reports mean repeated investigations. You do not give up and look the other way when a child is being abused just because CPS failed to act the first time. When my neighbors were abusing their children, I had to call CPS every week for over a month before something was done. Don’t give up.
I just want to point out that their apology… isn’t an apology. Not just because it doesn’t fix anything but because it deflects blame to the people who are upset. That’s not an apology. An apology takes responsibility for your actions, and doesn’t blame others for their reactions. An apology also requires actual change, not apologizing and then continuing the action. It’s not just an awful apology, it’s not really an apology to begin with.
