americans be like its 400 fahreinrhefight and im like girl what the fuck are you saying

Fahrenheit is actually better for weather measurements than Celsius because its easier to intuitively grasp how hot a Fahrenheit temperature is. Fahrenheit temps are based around how humans perceive heat. Celsius is based around water and makes no fucking sense outside of a scientific context

Celsius is stupid

Man, Yanks are not an intellectual people. Of course you think “75 is warmish and 100 is hot”, because you were raised on it. If I hear that it’s 32 outside, I don’t stop and ponder about water before I react, I know how that feels. “It’s based around humans” what nonsense, you could bounce those numbers around all over and get the same result. Who says 100° F is the absolute standard of being really hot? That could be 110 and you’d say the same thing.

Basing it in water is good for people because it tells you what the environment will be. If it’s below 0, that matters because it’s not going to rain, it’s going to snow, you need to put some winter tires on because the roads may be slippery. What the fuck does it matter that 0°F is what it is? It could be 5° colder and make no difference

98.6 is human average body temp in F.

Above that is hot.

110 is pretty hot.

122 is so damn hot you’ll be dead in a few hours if you don’t get water and stay out if the sun.

It’s almost like you’re used to what you were raised on and it would take actual effort to grasp the other one. And yeah, it takes a while, but neither is really “better”, except Celsius is easier to use in science.

30-31 C feel similar and 30-31 F feel similar, so I feel like that second to last point is kinda.. irrelevant, because that’s true for any random degree number in both systems.

I get how using “master/slave” relationships in technology is bad (for obvious reasons, also when something a simple as “parent/child” exists, there’s no reason to use something like that), but I don’t think the word “master” in and of itself is racist, if for no reason other than its incredibly varied usage and extremely long history.
