I feel like the phrase “avatar state” comes up as something everyone apparently knows even though it hasn’t come up until the first episode of book two

Like. It just comes up as something everyone knows. And everyone’s like “okay cool” and uses it themselves? I don’t understand

Can we absolve the narrative that understanding the complexities of a character equates to you being an apologist for their actions? Because I am genuinely terrified of being cancelled as an Azula apologist for trying to expand her character story in comment sections that write her off as one dimensional “crazy villain,” while trying to explain how both her and Zuko are victims. Understanding a character’s story, whilst holding them accountable for their actions can and should coexist.

broke: zuko had iroh, ursa, and the gaang while azula had no one 😦

woke: while zuko did have the favor of iroh and ursa, which is very sad, azula would have had a healthy relationship with mai and ty lee had she not been using fear so they would do her bidding, she was literally manipulating them and the second they went against her orders in order to save zuko so she wouldn’t KILL him, azula had them thrown in jail for god knows how long. azula might have only had the favor if one adult, ozai, but she could have had real friends if she didn’t rely on fear to literally fucking control them

azula’s story is tragic but don’t make her out to be some sort of innocent victim, not only are you lying out your ass, you’re diminishing a complex villain down to nothing it’s insulting and wrong
