I think he just outlived everyone and proclaimed himself king, and no one bothered to question it

This piece is inspired by Roman Sadovsky’s 2020 long program – the second I watched it, I knew I had to use it as a reference for figure skater Zuko. In my head, he and Sokka are both olympic level skaters training at the same rink and totally not yearning for each other every day they skate together.
