ugh this. my husband is 30 and has NEVER had any alcohol. he has no desire to drink and everywhere we go people try to convince him to “JUST TRY IT!!” fucking leave him alone man

Just want to add: sometimes it’s not even just a preference (although that reason should be respected too). Sometimes the person has a family history of alcoholism and doesn’t want to become addicted, or they’re a recovering acloholic.

Please keep in mind alcohol is a drug, and one not everyone wants to use.

Speaking as a recovering alcoholic, it would be great if more people would follow this.

also some people do not drink because of their religion please be respectful

There are also some people who can’t have alcohol due to medical conditions

Just going to add: IT IS NOT FUNNY OR CUTE TO SLIP ALCOHOL INTO WHATEVER THEY’RE DRINKING

You don’t know why they’re avoiding it, and it’s not your place to trick them into drinking it. You’re not doing them a favor. They’re not going to suddenly go ‘wow this is delicious i should’ve been drinking this whole time’. Do not be a dick.

Just stop.

Some people are on medications that clash pretty badly with alcohol.

And even if they’re not? Don’t be a fucking dick.

If someone says they don’t drink, they don’t drink. End of story.
