need ppl to stop using “neurodivergent” when they just mean “autism & adhd” or “mentally ill” bc it doesn’t mean either of those things
@iicraft505 i didn’t expect anyone to rb this & i just wanna clarify bc the original post wasn’t worded great lol
basically, it doesn’t have a fixed definition. the best explanation i’ve seen is that it groups together disorders that you aren’t expected to recover from (such as autism, as opposed to a recoverable disorder like anxiety.) this is a really broad group without a lot of overlapping symptoms or experiences. it *can* mean “autism & adhd” and it *can* mean “mentally ill,” but it doesn’t *only* mean either. i just think ppl shouldn’t be using such a broad term to describe specific experiences since, as a person with dyslexia, i’m going to have a very different experience compared to someone with tourette’s or schizophrenia
Hello welcome my ADHD themed gameshow, “So you were holding it literally moments ago but now it’s gone” the where YOU look for whatever you were just holding while going increasingly mad
I’m just trying to get the mood right
Reblog if you didn’t notice the missing words
Every time it takes more than one read to spot them
you know what the w o r s t thing about adhd is? (at least i think this one is the adhd, could be one of the 429432 other things i have)
time is meaningless.
which means if i have one (1) thing that i need to do, my brain has to block the entire day out for it.
which means that even if it’s technically a “day off” if i have one (1) important obligation–even if it’s only gonna take like 2 hours out of hte day–my brain doesn’t count it as a “day off” so i don’t actually get to use it to decompress from everything else
which is how i end up going weeks or months without having a “day off” that my brain will register as such so my stress levels just keep compounding, and my energy levels keep plummeting, and it’s hell on earth is what it is
ADHD ‘Dolphin minds’ : an extremely relatable thread
other ND people can actually connect the dots bc our minds are also going that fast. I’ve had it happen when I was talking to someone jumped, tried to explain, and they were like “no no I get it’s because said x and then you thought about y so z obviously” and man that kind’ve shit is why I dont wanna talk to NTs ever again.
Also some people with various things like ADHD/Autism/etc find subtitles to be distracting and find it difficult to focus on the show if it has them. The need dubs.
Some people with those same things have auditory processing issues and find it difficult to comprehend dialogue alone and thus can’t follow the show. They need subs.
Funny how intersectionality means remembering that different people have different needs and that the correct solution is options.
