That still pisses me off though like “people with add are hard to love” so what, you want a reward or something? If loving someone is a chore than stop fucking loving them? Cut off your relationship? It’s good for nobody. And you gem of a person, that isn’t even true anyway. It’s not hard. It’s not harder. Literally no correlation or causation between ADHD and whether someone is easy or hard to love.

“Fidget toys make you less focused :)” that because you’re not adhd/autistic you fucking clod

list of things i have heard from people without adhd/autism who used my fidget toy:

– it doesn’t do anything

– its a waste of plastic

– how do you pay attention in class

– it makes so much noise (it doesn’t make any noise, they just saw i had it in my hand)

– at least my fidget spinner actually does stuff (my toy does 6 different things. also they got their fidget spinner taken the same day)

– its gay (creative)

things my friends with adhd/autism have said after using my fidget toy:

– oh my god

– its so…. Good

– i could actually pay attention to shit in class

– where can i buy this???

– wait there’s More stuff like this

– i love you. (not related to the toy per say but that felt nice)

This right here is an important post

As a teacher, the whole “fidget spinners being marketed as toys” is the most terrifying trend my students have introduced me to. I gave a fidget cube to one of my 6th grade students who’s been struggling all year with his adhd, who is so smart but is failing math because he can’t focus in it. He was hesitant at first, about a teacher giving him something “to help” rather than punishing him, but agreed with me that it couldn’t hurt to try.

He hasn’t put it down.

Everyday since he got it, I’ve seen him with it. He holds it in his pocket, and hasn’t climbed on a table or cussed at a teacher since.

BUT

There are at least 20 other kids in our school who bring fidget spinners and play with them out on the table during lessons. They don’t pay attention in class, and they disrupt other students’ learning. These are not students with adhd or anxiety, these are students who are just playing because they’re kids and that’s what kids do.

What scares me is I know other teachers have been confiscating them. They’re going to be banned, if it continues to be a problem. And my 6th grader, who’s had noticeable improvements since he started playing with his cube, is going to get in trouble for using something that helps him learn.

I’ve seen this on the news too, and the newscasters act like its a toy to play with instead of a thing that helps autistic kids learn.

Gotta love when neurotypicals write articles about how hard it is dating nd people.. Like I’m sorry if you don’t have a mental illness/neurodivergence/disability you shouldn’t be writing shit like this. It’s flat out disgusting. Imagine your partner writing about how hard it is loving you and how horrible the things you do are and then posting it for world to see. That’s honestly so inconsiderate and disturbing.

Anyway tag yourself, I’m “an explosion of emotion.”

this is so ironic like if anything we’re the ones tip toeing around nts so we just get basic human respect and decency like

Yeah, it’s a fact in the same way “the earth is flat” is a fact, it’s not.

Honestly, no one pays ADHD/ADD the attention it deserves. You hardly ever hear anyone talk about it, because it’s “not so bad, right?”

Literally it affects every part of my life and is the reason behind so many of my life problems and has lead to pretty bad anxiety and depression for me. I can’t do school work because I can never focus, so I end up procrastinating until I can manage to focus, and even then, it’s usually almost too late. I can’t ever sit still and I have to doodle constantly, and I really, really can’t manage my time well. The amount of stress and shit I get from everyone as a result of having it is crushing.

And no one ever seems to care or pay attention. Unless they’re making an ableist joke.

also if you say that ADHD/ADD is “a made up disorder to sell pills” you can go fuck yourself

I find the argument that ADHD and Autism are over diagnosed fucking hilarious because there are a lot of issues with the two of them in a clinical setting but over diagnosis isn’t one of them. I don’t think I know anyone who is diagnosed with either who you can’t see why. Really.

Also being able to detect something better doesn’t mean it’s being over diagnosed and even if it is, if they benefit from the diagnosis, I can’t say I really care, personally.
