I’ve seen enough to know that it doesn’t matter what disorder category you put them under or what label you use for that category, they’re still treated like something only kids should/can have.

I check the reblogs of that post and a lot of tags basically say “yeah people act like I’m too old for this” so you know.

The label is kinda beside the point.

Maybe we should stop calling ADHD and Autism childhood disorders and start calling them what they are.

Surprise! We grow the fuck up and become adults!

idk where OP is from but i’ve never heard them called childhood disorders
they’re developmental disorders

not to start discourse but

And from what I’ve both seen and heard, a lot of people don’t think adults can have them. Which is obviously wrong.

Obviously of course childhood means “starts in childhood” in that context, but people wouldn’t necessarily know that.

Just because you haven’t heard something called something doesn’t mean it’s not called that thing or not treated like that thing.

anyways can we start recognizing adhd as an actual and serious disorder that

  • can affect on functioning in every day life so badly that it interferes with taking care of very basic human needs
  • is not 10 yrs old white boy exclusive disorder
  • is not a fake disorder created to benefit medicine companies
  • definitely should not be reduced to “kid who cant sit still and wont stop screaming” stereotypes because adhd has a whole fuckton of symptoms ranging from serious memory issues to fine motor control difficulties
