“kids are kids” yeah and them having adhd doesn’t change anything about that ¯_(ツ)_/¯
‘ur pathologizing childhood uwu’ and you’re denying necessary treatment to a child with a neurodevelopmental disorder because you’re too fucking lazy to put in the effort to help them but sure, jan
The whole “ADHD is fake” argument really pisses me off for so many reasons. One of which being that you see people claim that children are naturally hyperactive and inattentive, so ADHD must be fake!
Okay fine, I’m going to ignore all that bullshit and just ask one question: what about all the other symptoms of ADHD?
You know, the memory issues, RSD, emotional regulation, insomnia, irrirability, mood swings, and all the other symptoms that combined with hyperactive and/or inattentive will likely follow the child into adulthood.
The thing is, they likely don’t even know about the other symptoms at all.
And the fact that they can just say all of their bullshit without even educating themselves pisses me off.
“Ever wonder why there are so many cases [of adhd] in the US only”
Are you illiterate or just willfully ignorant? Cultural differences have always played into basically every part of diagnosing and treating disorders, this isn’t news.
i hate how people with adhd/add/etc are made to feel like they are a problem. no. fuck you. you wanna talk problems? then let’s talk about our piece of shit system of education first.
Apparently, today is some kind of anti-bullying day. It’s also still ADHD awareness month, so:
Shout out to ADHD folks who were/are being bullied.
Shout out to ADHD folks who were/are being bullied for things related to their neurotype!
Shout out to ADHD folks who were bullied for liking their hyperfixation too much, for being “too emotional,” for poor grades, for missing social cues or making social faux pas, etc.
Shout out to ADHD folks who were bullied for other reasons (other disabilities, religion, gender, race, etc.)
Shout out to ADHD folks who became class clowns to hide their pain.
Shout out to ADHD folks who became withdrawn and quiet to protect themselves.
Shout out to anyone with ADHD who was/is bullied.
I was too. I know it sucks. But you’re not alone. And you can make it. I’m not going to say that it’ll be easy, but you can do it. You can make it.
i thought you guys would find this thread i wrote interesting
this is a very real problem! and unfortunately, something similar happens to people of color and adults as well. always try and tie it down to something else when, in fact, the disorder has been clearly present the whole time. it’s so damaging.
