So question about snake enclosures. I watch a popular youtube channel that had snakes as pets. Currently, they have a plastic tiny rack system to keep most of their snakes. I think what they said was snakes like small spaces since they don’t really do much. However, I was told snakes need large spaces since they are active at night. What do you think? Small plastic bins with only water bowl, not enough? Or is that fine for ballz?

i-m-snek:

Plastic bins that are that small can keep a snake alive, but it will not thrive in that situation. Keepers like that seem to think that if a snake will eat, drink, poop, and breed then its fine when in all reality the animals deserve to practice their natural behaviors. That includes thermoregulating, choosing hides, climbing, etc which tiny racks do not provide. Now, large racks that provide enrichment can be fine, but its the tiny ones that aren’t good.
