Autistic people should be the ones talking about autism, not their parents or doctors or caretakers. I’m just so tired of this. On another note, yeah, we need allies, but can they just elevate our voices instead of drowning ours completely? Please? It’s not our parents who need help, not just them at least. Listen. To. Us. And speak of and with us with dignity and respect.

I was at a trading card shop the other day and two of the workers were making shitty “REEEE autism screeching” jokes and like I was right there. One of the guys is generally pretty friendly toward me so I assume he has no idea I’m on the spectrum but hoo boy at least now I know he’s on the spectrum of asshole
