the reason why all internet content is created by either 4chan or tumblr is because both platforms have extremely low moderation(and what little exists is completely arbitrary) enforcement
the difference is 4chan’s lax moderation is baked into the system and hands off by design while tumblr’s lack of moderation is the hilarious result of what happens when you let people from brooklyn who don’t know how to dress themselves in the morning become tech guys
there was a period on 4chan a few years back where someone allegedly figured out how to embed some sort of virus file in an image, which was this image of hirohiko araki eating a donut. if you saved the image it would put a screamer on your computer. i think the virus code in the image was blocked immediately so the original image couldn’t be posted anymore but people didn’t know that so it eventually spun out of control and whenever someone posted this image (the clean version) people would freak out because they thought just viewing the image would destroy their computer. even today looking at jojo’s bizarre adventure author hirohiko araki enjoying baked goods gives me a brief fight or flight response.
Every time I visit 4chan I’m in awe at how fearful they are of Tumblr. SJWs are the boogeymen to them. It’s really quite pathetic.
Didn’t they troll tumblr SJWs into pissing their pants for equality… so fearful.
I visit 4chan often just to check up on the madness.

I remember the fabled “raid.”
Tumblr struck first with their #Shutdown4chan and then spammed feminist memes but 4chan users didn’t really care and and then came to tumblr and kept posting gore in popular tags. Instead of waiting it out like good tumblr users, tumblr users posted their selfies in the tags, which the 4chan raiders photoshopped into porn until they got bored.
They threatened legal action and a tumblr ‘psychopath’ straight-up threatened to kill them.
Or that time 4chan made a troll account and drew all the Steven Universe characters white and skinny after the fanbase harassed someone into suicide over making a character too thin or some shit.
Well… I never thought I’d see a screenshot of 4chan on Tumblr or really anything about it.
They did raid 4chan at one point. Also Tumblr, Imgur, 4chan, and Reddit have a bit of a connection.
I heard about the raid, but how are they connected? How do people from THIS site survive on 4chan? Also, didn’t that have some pretty embarrassing consequences for the Tumblr people? I almost wish I was on the site to see that…
Yeah, I think it did. I heard about it on Imgur well after the fact, though. As to how they survive, the same way they do on Reddit. By thinking that they are entitled.
I don’t know how the connection between Tumblr and 4chan started. I know Imgur and Reddit is due to Imgur’s start. But other than that, I really don’t know. I wish I had seen the raid, though…
