ive never met someone who talks about IQ who wasnt a frustrated adult child

losers want there to be a number that conveys the value of a human life so bad. what an elegant way to immediately dehumanize everyone you don’t like

When asked about his IQ, Stephen Hawking said “I have no idea. People who brag about their IQ are losers.”

OKAY but like the woman is a super famous sculptor herself. Two major players in their own respective industries and they don’t know it! What are the chances? Life is amazing!

Ok, so I flipped back through the notes to find the name of the artist who isn’t Jay Z – she’s Ellen Grossman and it turns out her work is massively cool! She makes drawings and sculptures that look like delicate lace or something, but are actually based on topographic maps and scientific data – ‘the sensuous aspects of water currents, land masses and the wind made visible’. I THINK SHE MAY BE A WIZARD. Anyway, check it out – ellengrossman.com

It’s amazing that this woman is famous in her own right, but just for a moment I wanna point out that when she didn’t know the man next to her from a hole in the ground, she was still so immediately all about his success.  “I’m proud of you.”

What a great person.

Some of Ellen’s work.

Also i misspoke when trying to quote the “you know what they say about big foot” vine and said feet instead and. Cringe. Especially in the context where that would’ve been Supremely Inappropriate

To be honest i didn’t and still don’t understand what the big deal with the word cunt is in the US like. I thought that was an Australian or British thing or something where it was Bad. I mean i also feel like ignorance is bliss but i thought it was just a kinda unpleasant slang term

Apple propaganda notwithstanding, the reason tower PCs are big isn’t because they’re outdated. The reason tower PCs are so bulky is because they’re designed to be user serviceable. The case has lots of open space so your big, meaty hands can easily access all of the components, and everything is secured with friction-fit tabs and standard machine screws to minimise the need for specialised tools. A properly laid out tower PC is fully serviceable with a single Phillips-head screwdriver and no greater manual skill than your average Lego playset – heck, for some of the more modern case layouts you don’t even need the screwdriver, unless you’re performing major surgery like a full motherboard replacement.

Like, think about who benefits from convincing you that a fully modular computing device that can be serviced and repaired with your bare hands and minimal technical skill is unfashionable.

saw someone unironically answer an ask with “sure! i’ll do that 🙂 /gen /srs /nm /pos” and y’all. this is what we were cautioning against when we warned not to overuse tone indicators. nothing about that phrase implies sarcasm, ill intent, or anger. there was no need to use a single tone indicator there, but if you really must, just /gen would suffice. tone indicators are only helpful to clarify something that wasn’t already clear in the message, not to confirm something that wasn’t already in question. only use them if the text could actually be misconstrued without them, otherwise they’re redundant and actually start to lose meaning.
