-Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods by Hal Johnson, illustrated by Tom Mead

I haven’t seen Black Mirror but I feel like it might fit into this category as well.

Although really since I’m specifically talking about Creatures™ I don’t think anything related to world building should count, because then that’s basically everything.

I suppose world building/the imaginary[x] art subreddits could count in general but that’s not a specific world or universe, so.. I don’t think that counts.

Pokemon, I suppose, is a child-friendly version of all this.

I’m pretty sure the thing I was thinking about that I forgot was Fablehaven because that’s a pretty nifty world too.

While I’m at it Artemis Fowl is a cool world as well but then we’re also diluting it past Creatures™, but really it’s not just Creatures™, it’s anything that alludes to something secret to the general public of the universe.

@wizardsisananimal

@voidspacer ’s world building

This post has changed from surreal to CreaturesTM but anyway

Tourism poster for Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, 1980

“While the rural areas of west Texas are known for their sparse populations, one tourist attraction seems to continually generate a steady stream of visitors around vacation seasons. The titular “Mystery Flesh Pit” has been a wellspring of fascination for geologists, biologists, sociologists, engineers and the general public alike. Guests are advised to book age-appropriate tours and activities well in advance of their visit, though the pheromonal discharges and the overall agitation level of the MFP can vary with short notice. Visitors should be advised to be prepared for changes in schedule & availability.“

Which actually the fact that Bob’s Burgers is a spiritual successor to King of the Hill makes people whining about how Bob’s Burgers is becoming more family friendly even more ridiculous. Like I wouldn’t necessarily show every episode of King of the Hill to a small child but like… it’s not explicitly adult. And Bob’s Burgers never really was either, even in the first couple seasons while it found its footing.
