where’s the comic with that guy with a badly drawn swastika on his shirt offering to share racist crime stats contrasted with the guy saying “just google feminism it’s completely unambiguous there are no internal disagreements”

here it is

ive been thinking on this for a while and i was just about to make a post like this. no, you do not “owe education” to anyone. it can be exhausting constantly having to explain your oppression and struggles to others, especially to a privileged group who will never live it. but if you want true allies, you have to be willing to share. saying “google it” to anyone who wants to truly understand you closes an important door to discussion. do you always have to answer every question to the point of mental and emotional exhaustion? of course not. but if you don’t allow people to hear from first-hand experience, the next place they’re going to go is some organization locked behind a pay-wall, and then a group/person that is going to enthusiastically share a misleading or even outright dangerous perspective. take it from an autistic person. i would rather have an uninformed neurotypical ask me questions about autism and ableism instead of going to Autism Speaks. if you want to combat misinformation, you have to be willing to contribute as an individual.
