i’m not sure how anyone thinks “humans are naturally greedy and selfish, that’s why capitalism is the best system” because you’re essentially taking some of the worst traits a person can have and making them necessary for success. you literally CAN’T say “humans are naturally super evil” because people will act differently depending on the environment they live in. when cruelty is the easiest path to financial success and that success is painted as a good thing under a competitive market economy, of course people will willingly act in a way that harms others.
i’ve mentioned this before, but if you want to understand how capitalism transforms morality I recommend watching the documentary “casino jack and the united states of money” and then this interview with the man the documentary is about. basically, at the time he viewed himself as moral for his financial success and dismissed concerns based on the fact that other people were doing the same thing to succeed. the fact that he now acknowledges it as evil and gained a level of self awareness shows that this behavior is not natural to humanity, but rather encouraged in our society.
