Free preschool is a really big deal to people with kids. And making an Associates degree completely (and if you continue on for a bachelor’s, meaning that you only pay for HALF of college), is a really huge thing. These would have been life-changing for my family.
Plus in cities like mine, upping the funding for the community college is hugely beneficial and it will help enrollment at affordable colleges like the one where I work (which is under constant economic threat.) This potentially means more jobs in towns like this where everyone is desperate for them.
This is an incredibly positive thing. Getting this done now, and proving that it’s doable, will only make it more likely that this will be expanded on in the future. You can’t give people something and then take it away. If he can get this passed it will lay the groundwork for so much more.
see? And the alternative, aside from a bloody revolution that will kill almost everyone you’ve ever loved? Doing better at making sure the rich are both less rich and powerful.
