It’s really funny to see leftists on here to clarify what high income bracket does and does not qualify as “eat the rich” because like, you know that statement doesn’t mean literally killing and eating rich people based on income, right?
The phrase originates from a Jean-Jacques Rousseau quote: “When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich.” Basically, it’s saying that when the masses reach a state of desperation in poverty they will turn against and fight those oppressing them to get the life they deserve. There is no income calculation, it’s about the position someone holds in society resulting from wealth and how they exploit people for profit.
People really just took the guillotine jokes and assumed someone is actually going to show up to your house and guillotine you for having money in the 21st century under a modern capitalist system. That wouldn’t even end capitalism, ffs. The system in which people can acquire such a place in society is the problem. If you actually kill Jeff Bezos someone will take his place.
