In April 1941 Italy invaded Yugoslavia, along with other Axis powers, and gained the eastern Adriatic coast. In the following years, over 20 concentration camps were founded on the coast, including Rab (tw// pictures), Gonars and Molat, with the goal to ethnically cleanse and Italianize the area. Italy also invaded Ethiopia, Albania, Greece, Libya, France (Tunisia) and Russia, and it is estimated that about a million people were killed by Italian fascists, the most of which in Ethiopia and Croatia.
