the view that all governments are the same in principles and operating is wrong and pretty useless in political discussions. the state is not an abstract thing, it’s a creation of humans ran by humans. it is also ran in accordance to the environment and economy it exists in. for example, you will never not have a state that serves private interests under capitalism because the government requires the private sector to maintain the economy, a competitive market economy with currency.
the question you should always ask yourself is cui bono, who benefits?
